But because of all the clothes and blankets scattered about, the result of Gideon’s and my ravenous appetite for each other. The man was insatiable, more so than ever before. For the first time since we started sleeping together, he didn’t hold back. Like whatever had been burdening him had beenlifted.
Sensing me stir beside him, he pulled me closer and pressed his hips against mine, his erection prominent.
“You’re an animal,” I said, my voice raspy from lack of sleep.
“I won’t apologize for being ridiculously attracted to you.” He ran his hand along my stomach, inching lower and lower.
I parted my thighs, giving him better access. When his thumb and forefinger lightly pinched my clit, I closed my eyes and released a moan.
“Seems you’re just as desperate for me as I am for you.” He scraped his unshaven jawline against my neck.
“Always,” I exhaled, moving in time with his ministrations.
He slipped a finger inside of me before adding another.
“So warm,” he crooned, circling his hips against me. “So wet.” He curved toward me, nipping at my skin.
I had a feeling it was currently riddled with small marks from all the times he’d bitten me last night, but I didn’t mind. I would happily wear the proof of Gideon’s unyielding hunger for me.
“So mine.”
“Yours,” I whimpered as he lined himself up at my entrance, about to thrust inside.
Unfortunately, that was the precise moment Ollie decided to jump onto the bed, showering both of us with kisses.
“Cockblocker,” Gideon laughed, scratching Ollie’s head.
“I think someone wants to go out.” I glanced at my phone to see it was already after six. “He’s used to getting up early.”
“I can take him for a walk. That way, you can get ready for work.”
I rolled over to face him, which prompted Ollie to bestow me with even more kisses. I tried to swat him away, but there was no coming between my dog and the prospect of chasing birds on the beach.
“Are you sure you don’t mind?”
“Of course not.” He smoothed a few tendrils of hair behind my ear. “Plus, it’ll give us some time to get to know each other so he can hopefully give me the stamp of approval.” Leaving a kiss on my forehead, he climbed out of bed. Ollie bounded off the mattress, as well, following him every step of the way.
“Stamp of approval?” I rolled onto my side and watched him pull on his jeans, propping my head in my hand. “For what?”
“To continue spending time with you. If you ask me, getting your dog’s stamp of approval is much more important than getting your best friend’s. Or even your parents’. Humans can be fooled easily. Not dogs.”
“True. But I’ll let you in on a little secret.”
“What’s that?” He tugged on his shirt, then zipped up his hoodie.
“Ollie’s a complete sucker for the pup cups at The Daily Grind. Get him one of those, and you’ll be on his good list forever.”
“Duly noted.” He touched his lips to mine before turning and slipping out of the room, whistling for Ollie to follow.
And for the first time, I didn’t allow the fact that Samuel once whistled for him just like that to cloud my rationale. Instead, I dragged myself out of bed and into the shower, the only thought on my mind that of the feel of Gideon thrusting inside of me.
What I would have given to be able to stay in bed all day with him as we pretended the world didn’t exist. It was crazy to think that this time last week, I purposefully avoided going anywhere I might run into him.
Now, I’d give anything to see him every second of the day.
I may not have known a lot about him, but what I did know was that I liked how he made me feel. Liked that he didn’t try to shame me for anything. Didn’t try to make me feel guilty for things outside of my control.
For now, that was enough.
