“What? Her cheer?” Sasha asked.

“No. That I was actually wrong about something,” Bobbie said.

“Sounds like I need to remind you about that time you told me if we got our periods it meant we were vampires,” Sasha said.

Birdie snort-laughed, and as they took a hilarious walk down memory lane, Sasha took a picture of herself in the dress and texted it to Ezra.

Sasha:Thought you might like to see what I’m wearing to the networking dinner.

Ezra sent three flame emojis.

Ezra:How am I supposed to speak coherently about anything other than stripping that dress off of you with my teeth?

Yup. It was the perfect dress.

Chapter Twenty-Five

THE HOTEL BANQUET room was packed with people dressed to the nines, sharing insights and information and vying for connections at the networking event. Ezra stood at the bar, waiting for his drink, watching Sasha chatting with a handful of other attendees. She was stunning in a deep orange dress that accentuated her curves and had him salivating to get his hands on her. Their talk was well received, and he’d enjoyed giving the presentation together. They’d fallen into sync as comfortably as they did in the bedroom, finishing each other’s sentences and inciting interesting questions and even a few laughs from the crowd. Everything about them was harmonious, making him want a future with her even more than ever before. But getting from here to there meant walking barefoot through fire on a bed of glass, which he’d do in a heartbeat if it didn’t mean making Gus do the same.

“Here you are, sir.” The bartender set his glass down in front of him.

“Thank you.” Ezra tossed a twenty on the bar and sipped his drink as he made his way back to Sasha and the others.

She glanced over, eyeing him seductively, and licked her lips. You know I want you, baby. They’d been taunting each other all night, exchanging furtive glances and subtle innuendos that were growing steamier as the night wore on. He was itching to satiate those desires. Sasha had brought up the idea of spending the night together at the hotel, and while he was still nervous about being that far away from Gus, she was weakening his resolve one coy glance at a time.

Several conversations were going on when he joined the group, but all he heard were the silent messages passing between him and Sasha. Her gaze moved over his chest, following his tie south and lingering below his belt. His dick rose to greet the heat in her eyes, and she covered her triumphant smile.

Fucking hell.

As the others discussed the economy and difficulties of growing their businesses, he put his hand on Sasha’s back, leaning in close and lowering his voice for her ears only. “Keep looking at me like that, and I’ll bend you over a table and take you right here.”

Her eyes flamed. “Well, that’s one way to capitalize on your surroundings. I think I’d like a drink after all. I’m especiallythirstytonight. You don’t mind if I take a sip of yours, do you?” She reached for his glass and took a sip. “This is delicious.” A surprised little gasp escaped, and she plucked the cherry from his drink, sucking it into her mouth. “Mm.What’s better than an alcohol-drenched cherry?”

His little vixen knew just how to play him. Now he was thinking about her splayed out on a bed as he licked that drink off her body.

“Have I ever shown you my old party trick?” Ezra took the cherry stem from her and put it in his mouth, expertly tying it into a knot with his tongue, then pushed it out between his teeth, loving the blush on Sasha’s cheeks.

“Whoa,” a banker named Joe said. “I bet you got all the girls in college with that trick.”

“Don’t fool yourself, Joe. That particular skill is much appreciated by ladies of all ages.” The attractive brunette offered her hand. “It’s Ezra, right?”

He shook her hand. “Yes, and this is my colleague Sasha Whiskey.”

“Hi,” Sasha said.

“I’m Nora Winkler. I run the marketing division of Skyline Advertising in Denver. I enjoyed hearing about Redemption Ranch. It sounds like a special place.”

“Thank you. We’d like to think we’re making a difference,” he said.

“Nora knows all the new advertising trends,” Joe said. “She was just telling me about how TikTok is doing wonders for some of her clients.”

“Really?” Ezra asked. “I thought that platform was used for fun.”

“It’stoomuch fun,” Justine, an HR executive, said. “Our employees waste far too much time on it.”

“That’s why it’s good for advertisers. You’d be surprised at the impact a thirty-second video can have on the bottom line,” Nora said. “You have to get creative. I find some businesses need to really pound their points home, and others need more finesse, but either way, it’s a hot trend you can ride all the way to the bank.”

“I’m definitely into getting creative.” Ezra eyed Sasha, earning a knowing grin.
