“I wish we could stay right here all day,” she said, snuggling closer.
He wasn’t anywhere near ready for their first morning together to end, either. Especially since he had no idea when they’d get another one. But she had the horses to look after, and the guys were expecting him to ride with them before he picked up Gus. He kissed her forehead. “What time do you have to be at the barn?”
She glanced at the clock on the nightstand. “In about forty-five minutes.”
“Let’s have breakfast together. I make a mean chocolate chip waffle.”
“That would require the right ingredients, which I don’t have. I eat at the big house, remember?”
“What about on the days you don’t?”
“You mean when I was hiding from you?”
He went up on his elbow, gazing down at her. “I knew you were hiding from me. Don’t do that shit again.”
“Don’t piss me off, and I won’t.”
“I’ll try not to.” He brushed his lips over hers. “We can head over to my place for breakfast.”
“What if we run into someone? How would we explain why we’re together this early and coming from my place?”
Fuck.Where was his head? “We’ll tell them I was sleepwalking and ended up in your bed.”
She laughed. “Oh yeah, that’llgo over well.”
“Then I guess we can skip the waffles and use the extra time to get naughty in the shower.”
She wound her arms around him. “Just when I didn’t think the morning could get any better, you go and offer the icing on the cake.”
FORTY MINUTES LATER they were standing at her door saying goodbye, but leaving was the last thing Ezra wanted to do.
“I wish we could shower together every morning.” Sasha went up on her toes to kiss him.
“That makes two of us.” The image of Sasha on her knees in the shower as she sucked him off was going to wreak havoc with him all day. Then again, so were dozens of other images that were etched into his mind from their time together.
“I should probably warn you that you used the bodywash Birdie buys from that woman in Upstate New York who claims to put love potions in everything she makes.”
He’d seen the label, and Dare and Cowboy had told him all about Birdie’s claims that Roxie Dalton’s love potions had helped seal their love. “Nothing could be more powerful than the spell you cast on me ages ago.” So much for keeping his emotions in perspective. Her hopeful smile had him feeling like a heel, and he tried to rein in his emotions.
“This may sound cheesy, but I had a great time last night.”
“So did I.”
“Can I see you Tuesday night after church?”
“I was hoping you’d want to.”
“Tuesday feels a lifetime away.” He kissed her again. “What do you have going on after you’re done with the horses?”
“I don’t know yet. Maybe I’ll go for a trail ride or head into town.”
He’d like to go on that trail ride with her. “Will we see you at dinner?”
“Definitely. I miss Gus. It wasn’t fair of me to disappear the way I did.”
“It’s okay, but I know he misses you, too.” He drew her into his arms, wanting to tell her how much he hated leaving her and how he wished she could go with him on the motorcycle ride. He’d love to have her warming his back, showing everyone she was his. But sharing those pipe dreams would only make their reality harder, so he silenced them with another kiss.
His phone chimed, and he pulled it from his pocket to read the text.
