“Okay. I’ll be back as soon as I can.”

I walked across the hall. The chance of getting caught was always there, but I had to run. My wolves were clawing inside me, mostly because they wanted to get to their mates.

I leaned on the doorway, thinking how silly I was but also knowing their desire to protect me.

I had always protected myself, but my mates keeping me safe was beyond sexy.

They answered before I knocked the third time. “Karelis.” Adan leaned on the door, one arm up. His dark hair feathered around his face, and those dimples begged for me to put my mouth on them. “Come in, beautiful.”

Another thing I hadn’t gotten used to.

I walked in and, as soon as he closed the door, he pressed me against it and leaned in, his lips only a breath away from mine. Mint-green eyes searched mine and then dipped to my mouth. “I missed you.”

I reached out and fisted his T-shirt. “You just saw me. I need to run, and I thought if I went by myself, you three would throw a man fit.”

“We do not throw man fits.” Casimir came out. He pulled on a shirt, but I caught a glance at his chiseled abs and a trail of hair that disappeared into his gray sweatpants. “We get growly.”

Blaze came from his room, his hair a mess, and he didn’t bother with a shirt. “I hear my mate,” he mumbled. His voice was rough and gravelly.

“Growly. Man fit. Angry. Upset. It’s all the same. But my wolves are both trying to get out of me, so who’s my escort tonight?” I hated to sound snappy, but being around my mates, or nearly mates, made my wolves even more unruly.

“Both of your wolves?” Blaze came over, and Adan moved back a bit. “We get to see both of them?”

I nodded. “They both want out, so yes.”

Blaze ducked into his room and returned with a hoodie on. They all came toward me, and I sucked in a breath. Their scents were extra powerful tonight. “Come on, mate. Let’s see those beautiful beasts you’ve got hidden away.” Blaze opened the door and waved me out.

“All three of you?” I asked.

They chuckled. Cas took my hand in his. “All three of us, female. Get used to it.”

A shiver ripped through me, thinking of all the meanings of the phrase. If we mated, would it be one of them at a time, or would they want me together?

We got to the forest and undressed. They gave me some privacy, but I had to admit, I peeked a little while they got naked. Gods. I was one lucky female. I let Night go first, since she was the most feral. They oohed and ahhed about her, and then we ran hard and fast. It looked to me that my men were having a hard time keeping up.

When I stopped and switched from Night to Sol, all three of them lay down and gave a whine.

Sol was such a damned princess. She took the opportunity to preen in front of her mates, showing them her white and golden fur.

Their eyes never left her. Instead of running, she lay down and waited. Her three mates came to circle her, nuzzling our fur and body before lying around us, each one touching us in some way.

An invisible tether began to grow stronger. The bond. We were already bonding and hadn’t mated yet. I didn’t know much about mates and mating, since those things had been kept from me, especially given that I was told I couldn’t have one, but my wolves knew they were connected to Cas, Blaze, and Adan in a way we’d never been tied to another.

We shifted back and got dressed. No words were spoken. I followed them to their suite because the last thing I wanted was to go back to my room, even though June’s safety floated in the back of my mind.

Cas broke the silence. “Karelis, your wolves are stunning. Both of them. Night is fierce and strong and brave, and Sol is still and patient—it’s like she’s wise beyond her years. Night spoke to me.”

“She did?” I asked. When Night took over, I often had blips of time unaccounted for. I always chalked it up to her powerful presence taking over and sending me into a different part of consciousness.

“Guys?” he asked the others.

Blaze took my hands and led me to sit on the couch. “She spoke to all of us. Tell me what you remember about when Night came forth. She told us she was born out of need. Were you not born with her?”

“No. Sol has always been with me but Night. I don’t know where she came from. It was the night my parents died.” I shrugged and fought against the tears. “I don’t even know what happened. But I know that Night came out and saved me from their fate.”

Blaze pulled me into his lap, and I laid my head against his chest. “I’ll never let anything like that happen to you again. We won’t let anything like that happen again, Karelis.”

Cas scooted closer and rubbed my back. “Night is phenomenal, Karelis. We won’t let anyone take her from you, either. She’s taken care of our mate all these years. Protected you on the streets. While you were on the run. From whoever killed your parents.”
