“I mean, it’s not like I’menjoyingthis, but it is pretty hot.”
He groaned, trying to move himself to sit up more.
“Come here,” he said, trying to reach out for me. I looked down to see red knuckles. Tears welled up in seconds at the thought of him trying to fight them.
“So you're really not mad at me for all of this? Like would you still want the benefits part of this friendship, even though knowing me has brought you so much trouble?” I asked.
“The day I tell you that I no longer want to fool around with you is the day I’m dead. And no, there is not any part of me that is mad at you.”
He finally caught my hand and squeezed as the doctor came in. Twenty minutes later, we were getting into Ash's car and heading out.
“Well, I wasn’t expecting you to break him out, but this works too,” she said, smiling as I crawled into the backseat. Chase groaned as he slid into the front seat.
“I tried to stop her, but she demanded I break out,” Chase said.
“There’s no stopping Scout.”
“Yeah, I’m starting to see that.”
“Where am I taking you?”
“Our place,” I said, trying to sound as confident as Chase would have.
“Can I at least stop at my place to grab more clothes?” Chase asked, laughing.
“Fine. I’ll allow it, but you have to let me help.”
He laughed harder and talked with Ash, giving her directions to his place. Ten minutes later, Ash pulled up to the row of nice condos. I walked behind him, waiting as he unlocked the door.
“I’ve never seen inside your place before. I’ve seen the ridiculous house you threw your party at, but that’s it.”
“No, I guess not. That’s one of my parents’ houses. And honestly, I think that’s because you call me and I come running over like a puppy dog more than demanding you come to me.” He pushed open the door, letting me walk past him.
“In my defense, it is nice to have a hot guy who likes giving orgasms to show up on demand. He also orders tons of food I like. Do you really think I would put an end to that service?”
“And you callmespoiled?”
“Says the man walking into one of the nicest condos in town.”
He set his keys down on the counter, pulling open the fridge and pulling out some cans of soda.
“Well, welcome to the place I sleep.”
The walls were bare white, the kitchen area opening up to a living room, and a door to our left that I guessed was a bedroom or office. The entire place was clean…and boring. The furniture was black to match the black cabinets. There was one checkered rug that ran from the kitchen to the living room, and besides some clothes thrown over a chair, I could barely tell someone lived here.
“Is this all of it?”
“My bedroom is through there,” he said, pointing to the door to our left. “And there is another room upstairs that I never use.”
I walked over to the bedroom, wondering if it looked more lived in than out here, and when I pushed open the door, I wasn’t surprised.
The bed was made, the black comforter clean and new, clothes were piled on a dresser, and there was a TV mounted on the wall. The closet was a normal closet, but I assumed it was filled with all his fancy lawyer clothes.
I spun back, almost running into him, but stopping short before I hurt him more. His eyes went heavy as he leaned down, his good hand moving up my neck to my jaw as he leaned in and kissed me. It was soft at first until his tongue darted out, running along my bottom lip. We moved backwards until my legs hit the bed, and I sat back. Before it could go any further, he groaned, standing back up. His chest started shaking with a pained laughter. “Alright, I can’t quite do that yet.”
I fell back, a wave of pleasure moving through me as I sunk further into the bed. “Oh my god, this bed is amazing. This bed is a hundred times better than mine.”
A horn honked outside, and I watched Chase shake his head as he went to his closet.
