“Does that mean we can go do these things in private?”
“It means keep a two-foot distance from me at all times.”
“I can’t when you are threatening me,” I said.
“How am I threatening you?”
“You’re implying that I was the only one getting special treatment, and now I won’t be. I would like to know what other men you are taking to that motel room and making them perform dirty acts for you.”
“Several. I wouldn’t even be able to remember their names,” she said, her lips pursed like she was fighting a smile.
I knew she was kidding, but jealousy still ripped through me. I grabbed her arm, pulling her closer as I turned us. Hopefully, the crew would only think we were looking at the car.
“I would like to be the only guy you are demanding to cum in motel rooms. In any room, actually.”
“Chase!” Ash yelled. Apparently she had been trying to get my attention because she was nearly frantic trying to wave me over.
I groaned. “This conversation isn’t over.”
“I think you’ve said plenty. You better hurry. Ash has the love of your life waiting over there.”
I looked again, seeing the tall brunette girl standing next to Ash now.
“She seriously set me up?”
“Yep. I told you she would.”
“What if I told you I’m not into tall brunettes in low cut tops? That I’m actually more into short redheads that bully me and race cars.”
“She knows Ash. Maybe she does race cars,” she said, crossing her arms with a glare.
“Doesn’t matter. Do you really want me to go over there and talk to her?”
“If you want to, go ahead.”
I grinned, the strain of anger in her tone giving her away. “You know, you are really bad at hiding those emotions. It’s cute when you try, though.”
“I’m not hiding anything.”
“No? So you’re not even a little mad at the thought of me going over there? Not upset at all with the idea of me being set up?”
“Nope.”
“All you have to do is say what you’re thinking.”
Her foot tapped, her body jumping as she fidgeted. She looked ready to explode, and I was ready for it. I wanted her to admit that she might actually enjoy me turning this down and hanging around with her tonight.
“There is only one girl here that I would like to kiss again, and if she feels even a sliver of wanting to kiss me back, then I won’t be going to talk to this blind date at all.”
“Just like that?”
“Yeah. Just like that.”
“Then fine. Don’t.”
The heavy weight of anxiety finally lifted off my chest. I had been hoping she would actually say it out loud, but part of me didn’t think she would do it, though.
“Fine. I won’t,” I teased back. “It kind of sounds like we might be coming to a deal.”
