They were already pulling out keys and jumping up to go, but Carly threw up her hands.
“Everybody freeze!” she yelled. “Before you run all over town, let me just call the diner and ask if there is a ridiculously expensive Porsche in the parking lot or if they saw Scout. It’s not like anyone there is going to forget either of those.”
“Fine, I’m going to call Scout again while you do that.”
My call went to voicemail and I hung back up as Carly was talking.
“Okay, thank you,” she said, laughing. “Yeah, we will all stop in this week. Promise.” She hung up and looked right at me. “They saw Scout there a few hours ago, and she did leave the parking lot because their cook commented about the car. And we all have to stop in and see Ella this week because we missed last week.”
“Fine, but I’m pretty sure we need to figure out where Scout is first,” I said, gritting my teeth. We were running out of options on where to look and my nerves were starting to eat me alive. “The Porsche,” I said, everyone’s eyes on me again. “My dad put a tracker on the Porsche and with everything that happened, I forgot to ask you guys to help me take it off. It’s still on there.”
Everyone stood back up. “Alright, how do we track it?” Fox asked.
“I don’t have access to it, but my dad’s computer would. Come on, I need you all to come with me.”
“Where?” Ransom asked.
“My parents’ house. I don’t know if they are going to let me in, but if you are all there, there won’t be much of a choice. Will you guys come?”
Kye got up, laughing as he grabbed his hoodie and threw it on. “If you told us to burn the fucking place down to help Scout, we would. Come on, this will be a breeze. Parentsloveme.”
“Then let’s go,” I said, already heading back out to the cars.
In seconds, everyone was in their car and following me to my parents’ house. Kye, Jax, and Carly rode with me, with Ash, Fox, Ransom, and Quinn in another car. The driveway to my parents’ house wasn’t long, but it was obnoxiously fancy.
I hit the gate code and parked in front of the house. All the cars were in garages, so I couldn’t tell who was home, and who wasn’t, but the sinking feeling in my stomach had me feeling pretty confident that my dad wasn’t going to be inside.
I led the way to the oversized front door, my heart pounding with each step. The crew stepped inside the luxurious foyer, and I almost laughed. The pristine marble floors and chandeliers were a harsh contrast to the crew’s darker attire and tattoos.
My mother appeared in the doorway of the living room, her eyes wide in alarm as she took in the sight of them all. “Chase? Who are all these people?” she asked, her voice nearly trembling as she held onto the door frame.
“My friends. We need to use Dad’s office, and then we will be out of your way again.”
She didn’t move, her eyes glued to the crew. “Your father doesn't like anyone in there. He has sensitive information on his computer.”
“And I don’t care about any of that. I need to see where my car is. If he has an issue with it, he can call me.”
“Chase,” she said with a shriek of fear in her voice as Kye stepped forward.
“He’s just introducing himself. Calm down. Come on, let’s just get to the computer,” I said.
They all moved at once to follow me, and she yelled again, backing up into the living room to put more distance betweenher and my scary friends. I could only shake my head as we headed to the familiar oak door of my father’s office. She was always the first to judge people based on what they looked like, and I never realized how horrible she was about it.
The computer was on, but locked. The crew looked through the place while I attempted to get it unlocked. Thankfully, my dad used all of three passwords in his life and ended up telling me all three when he would inevitably forget them. My knee shook in anticipation as the app loaded and finally brought up the homepage. Each of the cars had a link, the Porsche’s sitting at the top, making me wonder if he had looked at it recently.
The crew crowded around me. I didn’t hear anything else from my mom and wondered if she was calling my dad, the police, or maybe both.
The map loaded, the small red dot making my heart rate pick up again.
I kicked back the chair, moving around the desk. I never thought I would want to hurt my own parents, but red coated my vision and it was taking everything I had not to shake her.
My stomach churned as I headed downstairs. My mother sat on one of the couches, not even glancing at me or the crew as they crowded around behind me.
“What is going on?” I asked.
“What do you mean?” Ransom asked.
I glanced back at seven worried faces before I turned back to my mother.
