Dylan, obviously reading his alarmed expression, rolled out of bed and began getting dressed.

“We’ll be there in a couple of minutes,” Nick replied somberly before ending the call and turning toward Dylan.“Mika asked us to come over right away.”

“What’s going on?”Dylan asked, tugging a tee over his head.

When Nick opened his mouth, unable to speak, I knew it was really bad.

“I’ll get some clothes on,” I said, tossing off the covers.

“No.”Nick cringed.“Sorry, love.He only wants Dylan and me.”Though his voice was calm, worry blazed in his eyes.

“W-what’s happened?”I whispered.

Nick exhaled a heavy sigh and scrubbed a hand through his hair.

“What the fuck’s going on, man?”Dylan demanded.

“Emerald was attacked in Drake’s private room last night at Genesis.”

“What?”I gasped as my stomach twisted in a knot of fear.“I-is she…all right?”

“I think so.”

“Oh, fuck,” Dylan groaned.“Who the hell attacked her?”

“That new guy that just joined, Jordon something. He’s a fucking psychopath. He played Drake to get to Emerald, then used a razor blade flogger on her ass.Cut her up pretty bad.Mika, Tony, James, and Drake busted into the room and saved her, then Martin rushed over and stitched her up in Mika’s office.”

“Oh my god,” I whispered as tears stung my eyes.

“Mikawent in with them?”Dylan asked incredulously.

“Yeah. And spent the night at her place to take care of her.”

“He stayed the night?”Dylan gaped.

“Will someone please tell me what the fuck is going on between Mika and Emerald?”

“Language, little one,” Nick growled.

“I’m sorry, but my best friend was attacked, Dylan’s beyond shocked that Mikarevealedhimself to Emerald…like it’s some kind of cardinal sin. What’s the big fucking deal?”

“I know you’re upset; we all are.But if you don’t watch your mouth, we’ll spend all night forcing orgasms out of you.Do I make myself clear?”

“Crystal, Master,” I bit out.

“If you’ll calm down, I’ll explain. Can you do that for me, girl?”

Like a blow torch, Nick’s condescending tone set me on fire.It was hauntingly reminiscent of the cocky lawyers who all but patted my head as they talked down to me simply because I was a woman and thought my expert opinions didn’t matter because thebig boys were handling it.

Though I knew he hadn’t meant to, Nick had just pounded my biggest hot button.

It was on.

“I think I can manage that Master, thanks.”

His brows slashed in an angry scowl at my cynical reply.

“Time out, you two.Aside from this getting us nowhere, it’s not helping Mika or Emerald,” Dylan interjected with the voice of reason.“We’re all worried, but jumping down each other’s throats is only going to make matters worse.”
