I scowl. “That’s not how you choose names for babies!”
“How do you know?” Savannah raises an eyebrow at me, then starts opening and closing my closets till she finds a couple of mugs. “Coffee, See-see?”
“Green tea,” Sierra answers, then goes back to making gurgling noises at Gina…or whatever they end up calling her.
I’m not in the mood for this.
“Listen, you’re welcome to have a coffee and make yourselves at home, but I have things to do. So lock up behind you when you leave.”
“Oh, no, you don’t!” Savannah raises a hand. “If you even think of leaving, we’ll just follow you around all day. This is an…” She taps her bottom lip. “What’s that thing, See…where you help someone who doesn’t want help?”
“An intervention,” Sierra replies, bending forward to kiss Gina on the tip of her nose.
I stare at the twins in disbelief. “Are you two serious right now?”
“Totally serious.” Savannah nods. “You know, you look good with a baby. We’re thinking of calling her Bree. What do you think?”
I’m still holding the infant awkwardly. When her little face screws up and her lip wobbles, I cradle her closer. “This is nuts,” I mutter.
“Nuts or not, we’re here for the greater good.”
“Greater good? Whose greater good?” I’m scowling.
“Yours and Edirn’s.” Savannah is stirring the mugs.
“There’s no greater good involved as far as that man is concerned.” My tone is surly, but it can’t be helped. Baby Bree nuzzles against me, and my heart melts a little.
“Come on, Casey. You can’t just write off Edirn because he has some special abilities.” Sierra bounces Gina on her knee as she looks up at me. Clearly, the news has spread.
“Special abilities?” I scoff. “He’s been invading my mind! Our minds! How can you be so casual about this?”
Savannah hands Sierra a mug of tea and settles onto the couch beside her. “I think it’s kind of cool, actually. Imagine the possibilities!”
I roll my eyes. “Yeah, the possibilities of him manipulating us and using our thoughts against us.”
Sierra laughs. “Casey, you’re being ridiculous. Edirn’s not some evil mastermind. He’s your mate!”
“A mate I didn’t choose.” I shift my weight from one hip to the other, not quite sure how I should be holding little Bree. Finally, I opt to take a seat across from the twins. If you can’t beat them, join them. It’s not like they’re going anywhere soon.
Savannah sips her coffee, eyeing me over the rim of the mug. “Maybe not, but you can’t deny there’s something between you two. We’ve seen the way you look at each other. Plus, Gage said they heard the two of you—”
My cheeks heat up. “That’s not the point,” I interrupt her sharply.
“Then what is the point?” Sierra asks, shifting Gina to her other knee. “That you’re too stubborn to admit you might actually have feelings for the guy?”
I glare at her. “I do not have feelings for him.”
Savannah snorts. “Please, Casey. You’ve been ‘one of the boys’ for so long, you wouldn’t know a real emotion if it bit you in the ass.”
I open my mouth to retort, but Sierra cuts me off. “It’s time to embrace your feminine side, Casey. Let yourself fall in love for once.”
“Love?” I sputter. “Who said anything about love?”
The twins exchange a knowing look. “If this is your attempt to convince us you don’t care about Edirn, you’re doing a pretty poor job,” Savannah says, smirking.
I make a sound of exasperation. “I can’t believe you two! You come into my home, uninvited, to lecture me about my love life?”
Sierra shrugs, unfazed. “Someone has to. You’re too stubborn to see what’s right in front of you.”
