“Holy fuck,” I say breathlessly.
Silence falls over the room.
Finally, I hear a rustling of the covers and see Ruby shaking her head.
“What’s up?”
“You’re telling me I’ve been missing out on that all my life?”
Asher and I laugh loudly, filling the entire room.
I kiss her forehead and pull her into me. I don’t know who the fuck I am right now, spooning someone after sex.
But like Ruby said, today is a day for firsts.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Ruby
Maybe there’s etiquette to a working relationship after two-thirds of them gave you the best orgasms of your life. Maybe I should have cowered and let them come to me. But we have a scheduled lesson today and I’m not about to back down. In fact, I’m about to double down.
“Can you at least tell us where we’re going?” Levi asks as he turns right, like I instructed him to.
“After your little incident with the saber, you said there will be no more lollygagging from you guys-” I start.
“What about other types of gagging?” Dean interrupts me and I whip my head around from the front seat to glare at him. Then I glance back to Levi, embarrassed and unsure of what he knows. A smirk dances on his lips.
“Are you wondering if Levi knows?” Dean says, reading my expression.
“Knows what?” Levi asks with a little too much exaggerated curiosity.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I turn back to face forward, my face turning a deep shade of red. “As I was saying, now you’re going to see how you compare against my other pupils.”
“What?” Levi glances away from the road at me. “What does that even mean?”
“Right here,” I point at the big sign coming up on our right.
BROOKSIDE ACADEMY
“Ruuuuby,” Levi’s voice is tentative as he pulls into the private middle and high school parking lot. “Not to sound like a very particular brand of ass, but you do remember who we are, right?”
I shrug. The thought crossed my mind that bringing these guys to a school would cause a small riot, but then I remembered the town we’re in.
“These kids are not the kind of kids to go wild over a celebrity. Celebrities are just people their parents can hire to come to their birthday parties.”
“Let’s see if you’re right.” Levi shakes his head. “I don’t feel like being in the news today.”
Okay, maybe I underestimated Midnight Sons’ reach. Usually, I’m greeted by kids who are, at best, well-behaved but bored. Right now, these same kids are practically forming a mosh pit and trampling each other to get a better view. Asher, Levi, and Dean are all signing everything from dirty socks to algebra textbooks. Thank god it’s the weekend or this gym would fill up with fans until we all suffocate.
Levi manages to look up at me in between being accosted by teenagers to give me his best ‘I told you so’ look. Yeah, yeah, Levi. I get it. You’re really famous.
This day was supposed to be about me showing I’m still in control here, and yet here I am, completely out of my depth.
I take a deep breath. I can still salvage this.
“Alright, autographs are over,” I say as loud as I can. No one even glances my way.
I look back at the three of them. They must be used to this, but it looks overwhelming. Guilt seizes me and I start to bite my nails anxiously, debating what to do.
