“You heard anything about crossing the border?” I ask, looking over my shoulder at Silas.
“Not yet. My dad said it’s coming, though.” I nod my head. I’m ready for it. I’m ready to get the fuck over there and take out some assholes. I need to get my hands bloody.
I turn back and face forward, watching the road. My mind drifts to Syn. How could it not? That girl has me tied in knots, and she always has. Not that I’d let her know that. I wouldn’t. Nevertheless, I think about her anyway.
We are given our queens; we don’t get to choose who they are. They’re chosen for us. There’s a handful of girls I know who are princesses right now, and any one of them could be given to me. That doesn’t change the way I feel about Syn. Something about her will always make her mine, regardless of who she ends up with.
I focus on the road as we pull up outside Chaos. It’s an old warehouse that’s been remodeled for our purposes. The Kings own it, but the Gods run it. The Gods are a separate society from the Kings, but we all work together to get the jobs done.
We climb out, and I pull my black hoodie over my head and follow Silas through the front door. When we step inside, we’re greeted by Hunter, one of the Gods here.
“Ahh, the Kings have arrived. What brings you out here today?” he asks, looking between us.
“Heard you had a few things we could play with,” I tell him. He nods his head and motions for us to follow him.
“You heard right. We have three right now. Unfortunately, two others didn’t make the journey back to Chaos,” he says with a laugh.
“Someone couldn’t contain their excitement?” Levi asks him.
“Seems that way. What are you guys up for?” he asks as we step into the main room. There’s a ring in the middle where you can choose to fight. If the asshole they have wants to fight to the death, he can choose to. He would be put up against one of the Kings, and if he wins, he goes free. None have won yet.
“I’ll take a fight,” I tell him, needing to release a little tension.
“Ry, you’re always up for a fight,” Hunter says as he chuckles. He motions for me to follow him. We walk down the hallway to where he keeps the assholes in cages. When we step in, the smell of fucking piss and sweat hits me in the face.
“We have these three,” he says, nodding toward the cages. Three pairs of eyes come to meet mine, and I grin.
“Who’s it going to be?” I ask.
“What the hell are you talking about?” One of them snaps at me.
“Your chance to get out of here. All you have to do is beat me in a fight,” I tell them. I’m not huge or bulked up, but I do work out and train daily. I know how to fight. I’ve known how to fight since my training began when I was three.
The guy in the first cage looks away, but the one in the second nods his head.
“I’ll take you.”
“You realize if you lose, well, you’re dead,” Hunter tells him. He eyes me up and nods his head. They always think they can take me because I’m not as big as some of the other guys. Hunter claps his hands together and motions for another guy to release him from his cage.
The asshole steps out, and he has at least three inches on me and probably fifty pounds. That doesn’t mean shit to me, though. He smirks and I wink at him before I turn and walk out of the room.
I head down to the next room and change into a pair of gym shorts, tugging my shirt over my head when Silas walks in.
“You see that guy?” he asks, pointing over his shoulder with his thumb.
“Yeah, why?”
“He’s a big motherfucker,” he laughs, causing me to laugh too.
“Don’t mean shit, and we all know it,” I remind him.
“I know that too.”
“Where’s Levi?” I ask.
“Setting up the cameras,” he snorts. Levi loves to record this shit, so we can sit back later and rewatch the motherfuckers getting their asses kicked. I nod my head before we head out of the room and down toward the ring. The asshole is already in the ring, ready to try his hand at me.
“You ready?” Hunter yells out to me. I nod as I climb into the ring and roll my shoulders. There’s a small crowd all around the ring. There are a lot of guys who come here to blow off steam, but a majority of the guys I can see are all Gods.
