Isa had tensed in his lap and was staring up at him. He removed the bottle from her mouth, staring down at her. “Baby? Do you want me to move in?”
“Please,” she begged. “Please move in.”
“Then I’m moving in. I don’t care about the commute. All I care about is the two of you. Thank you.” He directed his gaze to Loki, then down to Isa.
“No need to thank us,” Loki told him. “Pretty sure we need you more than you need us.”
Yeah. He wasn’t so certain of that.

“How do you feel about what happened last night?” Remy asked.
They’d just put Isa down for a nap. Loki had tucked her in, making sure she had Razzie bear, while Remy had placed her pacifier in her mouth, then pulled up the side of the crib.
They had a video monitor on her so they could watch her. Loki had told Remy he’d look after her if he wanted to pack up his stuff, but Remy would do it tomorrow. It was too difficult to leave her after last night.
This was the perfect time for this conversation now that both of their heads were clear.
“Ahh.” Loki looked anywhere but at him.
“Loki. You can talk to me. There needs to be communication between us as well as with our girl.”
“Yeah. I get that. I guess . . . I feel a bit, hmm, embarrassed. But also less concerned than I thought I would. Like . . . my brain was quiet for the first time in years. It was good.” Loki shot him a sharp look. “Not something I want to do all the time . . . but sometimes. Yeah. I guess I am a switch.”
“In the right situation, perhaps. And it doesn’t have to be something that happens often. Just when you need it.”
Loki sighed, nodding.
“I also wanted to say that I’ll be paying my way if I’m moving in here. I want to pay half the bills and the mortgage.”
“Uh, there’s no mortgage, man. And half?”
“Well, we’re not letting Isa pay, are we?”
“She insists on giving me money each month,” Loki admitted. “I put some of it back in her wallet and the rest I stash away for a vacation that I’m hoping to talk her into.”
“We’ll get her to agree,” Remy said.
Loki nodded to him as his phone rang.
Remy watched Loki frown as he talked to whoever had called. Loki ended the call.
“What’s wrong?” Remy asked.
“That was Ed. Apparently, the security guard from Isa’s work sent the camera feeds through to the police after she laid a complaint against her boss.”
“Right. Why would Ed call you?”
“He also looked back over the camera in the parking lot and on it was a clear view of the guy that slashed my tires.”
Remy raised his eyebrows.
“They sent the footage to Ed since the person who slashed them lives in his jurisdiction and they wanted him to be aware of what was happening in case it was happening here as well.”
“Fuck. Who was it?”
Motion on the camera caught Loki’s attention. “She’s awake.”
