“Don’t worry, I’m sure there will be something else I need to spank you for.”
“No way, Daddy! I’m a good girl.”
“You are. You’re Daddy’s good girl. And his little rebel. And he wouldn’t have you any other way.”
Sunny gave him a huge smile. “You say the sweetest things.”
He just shook his head before moving to a set of drawers. He’d insisted on unpacking when they’d arrived yesterday while she rested. He drew out a bag, placing it on the bed. She eyed the cake box but she didn’t think she’d get away with sneaking a look at that.
Opening the bag, he drew out some white thigh-high stockings, a pair of black, shiny shoes and some white, ruffly panties.
“Daddy! I can’t wear these.”
“Why not?”
“Because . . . they’re what little girls wear.”
“And isn’t that what you are?” he asked in a silky-smooth voice.
“Yes, but . . .”
“But what?”
“Should I wear this? Won’t people think I’m strange?” She felt bad saying it when he’d gone to all this effort, but the last thing she wanted was to embarrass him.
Cupping her chin, he tilted her face back. “I don’t care what anyone thinks. And if anyone even looks at you strange, I’ll end them.”
“Daddy!” She gave him a flustered look. “See? You really do say the sweetest things.”
Once he’d gotten her dressed and done her hair, he picked up the cake box. “Ready?”
Anticipation made her heart race. “For what, Daddy?”
“For yourAlice in Wonderlandexperience to begin, of course.” Opening the box, he showed her the cake inside. Written along the top in black icing were the words, Eat Me.
Sunny clapped her hands in excitement. This was going to be so much fun.
Duke heldout the chair for his girl. She sat, then turned to give him a huge grin after he’d pushed her in.
“I can’t believe we’re having a tea party with the Mad Hatter.” She bounced with excitement.
Joy filled him. He loved how happy she was. They’d spent all morning at theAlice In Wonderlandexhibition. Now they were at the Mad Hatter’s tea party.
“You’re not too tired?” he asked as she looked around everything in excitement. He’d been worried about her lately. He didn’t like seeing her worn down and worried. And then there had been the long flight here. Although traveling First Class was no hardship. Sunny had even managed a small nap on the flight.
He supposed he should thank the Fox for that. Maybe. But that would involve dealing with the bastard.
“What? No way! Oh my gosh, look at the tea set. It’s so pretty.”
Wonder filled her eyes. He only hoped that she liked the big surprise he had for her. But that one he was saving for their last night here.
The waitress bought them a tiered high tea party stand filled with cakes and small sandwiches.
So, this was a first for him. If the guys could see him now . . .
He shook his head in amusement. The cakes were so dainty, he was almost afraid to touch them. That went for the delicate china cups too.
“Daddy?” Sunny whispered. “Are you all right?”
