Luder called one of the men and instructed them for new perimeter walks. Turning back to me, he nodded as he spoke. “So, does he want to meet?”

Smiling up at him, I nodded. “Yes, he said we must let him know when and where.”

Luder walked over and kissed my cheek. “Let me make some calls. I do hope this isn’t one of his traps though,” he said, walking in.

After my tea, I headed to the kitchen and dished up supper. Luder returned just in time as I placed the plates down. “Ready for supper?” I inquired.

He smiled at me, and we sat down. Once we were done, we rinsed the plates, cutlery, and glasses before putting them in the washer. It was our first night in this house, and I noticed the tub was about as large as the one at the hotel.

Walking upstairs Luder told me to let Mathieu know he would be meeting him in the morning. They have agreed to offer him a place in the ranks. The meeting was to take place at one of the family establishments down on the beach.

While Luder filled the tub, I made the call. This time, we exchanged roles. I took the lead in the tub and Luder when we went to bed.

Staring up at the ceiling out of breath, I felt sure it could be a boy. My hormones were too uneven for it to be a girl. Also, I generally felt calmer and more sensual than ever before. I had heard women discussing such things but have never considered the implications.

Luder drove me wild just entering a room. Glancing at him, my chest filled with a warm glow. Tomorrow, he would sit down with Mathieu and with him joining the family, I could sleep easier. I rolled over and cuddled in his arms as we fell asleep.

Chapter 27 - Luder

Standing at the door watching Ashan leave, I decide to make Skyler breakfast and surprise her while it’s still early. After chopping the fruit and adding them to the bowl, I added some cream just as I’d seen her make it on the yacht.

I hadn’t really seen her eat anything else this early, so this had to be her go-to meal. Bunny scratched at the glass door. Walking over to open it, I gently reprimand him. “The door has been open, why didn’t you go out then? Now you scratch at my glass door. Naughty boy.”

Bunny bounced out even before I had the door open far enough. As soon as his head fit through, he forced himself out. He really needed to get out, I thought walking back to the kitchen counter.

Placing the bowl on a tray, I poured her some tea and added a glass of juice, just in case. Carefully, I took it upstairs and pushed the bedroom door open with my foot. Skyler was sitting up with Bunny turning in circles next to her.

“Hey,” I protested. “When did you come back? I swore he was just outside. Get off the bed Bunny.”

Skyler laughed as he sat up and looked at me, turning his head from side to side.

“Breakfast in bed,” she said as I placed the tray down beside her. “You know a lady can get used to such things. What’s the occasion?”

Kissing her, I replied. “No occasion, except for you being here. Plus, I was up so I thought I would surprise you.”

“Thank you,” she replied, picking up the glass of juice. “This is nice, and you already know what I like.”

Grinning, L left her to eat. I took a quick shower and got ready for the meeting. “What are your plans for today?” I asked, entering the room again to get a tie.

“I’m not sure. Maybe I’ll go to Irina’s spa, she invited me to come any time. But I’ll call first.” Skyler replied between bites of fruit salad.

“That sounds nice. I shouldn’t be too long, though, if you want to do something later.” I said, kissing her forehead and heading to the door.

“It sounds good, see you later then.” I heard her add as I walked down the stairs.

Before leaving, I made sure the guards would keep an eye on the walls and double their shifts.

Arriving at the restaurant, I noticed there were a couple of regulars and quite a few vehicles parked outside. Some still had people sitting in them. I wondered if these were about to leave or had just arrived. Ashan was standing at the door as I approached.

“Morning, is he here yet?” I asked glancing at the people at the tables.

“Nope, but I have a bad feeling about this.” He replied, chewing a piece of gum.

Roman, Sergei, and some of the others were already having coffee at the table in the back corner as we joined them. The waitress had just brought us our cups when Mathieu walked in through the door. He stood and scanned the room, nodding to two men seated closer to the door.

“He’s not alone,” Roman uttered, rising from the table. We expected as much. Mathieu wasn’t here to talk.

Taking a sip of coffee, I also stood up and waved at Mathieu, signaling him to come to us. Roman informed the guards to stand ready as we expected trouble.
