Her smile faded quickly. “No, Luder, I told you I’m not interested. Let’s just leave it at that. You can be part of the child’s life, but I am not marrying you.” Skyler shoved me harder this time, catching me off guard as my mind wasn’t with us. “You can be glad I even came to you with this offer.”

As I stepped back, she turned and opened the door. “No,” I spat as I stepped up beside her and slammed the door shut. “This is not up for debate.” Every muscle in my body ached as I knew there was only one way to make this happen.

Locking the door and removing the key, I took out my phone and texted Ashan to let him know he would have to go without me. I told him something had come up that I had to deal with first and would explain it all later.

Turning my attention back to Skyler, I noticed she had not moved. She stood facing the door with her hands up against it. “Skyler,” I said, placing a hand on her shoulder.

“I’m sorry, it didn’t have to be this way, but you aren’t giving me any other option.” I pulled a chair up to her side. “Have a seat, hun. I need to make a couple of calls.” She glanced at me over her shoulder, her eyes were filled with anger. But she took the chair and sat down, still facing the door.

“I’m not staying, no matter what you say or do,” she said angrily.

I walked to the desk and called Roman. Whispering, I explained briefly why I couldn’t go with Ashan. I told him I was going to my place and would catch up with them once everything was taken care of.

Placing the phone down, I considered my options. I could drag her out screaming and kicking. No, I could subdue her and carry her out. Shaking my head, I knew that wouldn’t work as I had nothing here to subdue her with.

Frustrated, I looked through the drawers. There was nothing here.

Chapter 10 - Skyler

I couldn’t hear what he was saying to the person on the phone, but I felt scared. He locked the door and took the key; he was insistent on marrying me. This is not what I expected, but then, on the other hand, what did I think was going to happen?

After all, he was part of Bratva. I felt fear mixing with my anger as I scanned the room. I had to find a way to get out; why didn’t I tell Mathieu I was coming here? Well, if I had told him that, I would have had to tell him why, and I wasn’t ready for his criticism.

My life was a mess; I felt my heart beating quickly. The situation wasn’t ideal, but I knew I would find a solution somewhere along the line. He let me go the first time, maybe he would again.

As he placed the phone back on its perch, I felt a shiver run up my spine as fear took over. The window was too small to get out of, I would have to wait until we were outside. I told myself I had to formulate a plan as I heard him walking toward me. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves.

Luder came around and stood before me, grinning. “Come on, we have to get going,” he said, holding out his hand.

“No,” I replied, trying to keep the quiver out of my voice. The tears burned behind my eyes, but I fought to keep them from showing. I jumped up out of the chair and moved to the back of it. Holding the chair between us, I wasn’t sure what I intended to do, but I didn’t want to go with him.

Luder grabbed the chair and shoved it to the side, almost pulling my arms out of their sockets. He stepped up to me and gripped my arm tightly as I fell forward. Pulling me up against him and to the door. He unlocked it before glancing at me. “You don’t have to make this harder than it needs to be, you know.” He said as we headed down the passage.

Entering the bar area, I noticed the place was deserted. There were no staff, barman, cleaners, or anyone present. I felt my heart sinking as I realized there was no one to see me being dragged against my will, being abducted.

Outside, he pulled me around the side of the building. There were a couple of cars and guards standing around. We stopped next to one of the cars, and Luder nodded at the driver. The dark-haired man opened the back door for us.

“You know screaming won’t help. They all work for us,” Luder said as he started to shove me inside.

I looked around frantically; there was no way out. My tears couldn’t be kept back anymore, and they rolled down my cheeks as he got in beside me. I moved away and tried the other side door. It was locked and wouldn’t open, I was trapped. Sitting up against the door, I allowed my tears to run freely as I stared out the window.

We drove down towards the ocean, but I didn’t recognize the roads we took. The area was unfamiliar to me. I felt my stomach turning as I wondered what he was going to do with me. If family was so important to him, I was sure he wouldn’t kill me, but what would he do? I glanced at him, trying to assess the danger I might be in.

Luder sat there calmly as a moonlit lake. I wondered how he kept his cool when I felt like my world was coming to an end. It must be because he was used to doing things like this. With his family ties and all, I assured myself that there would be others somewhere.

“Don’t look so upset, hun,” he said out of the blue. “It was fun. Didn’t you like it, did I misread you?”

Stunned at his words, I swallowed the lump growing in my throat. “This is not why I came to you, even if I enjoyed it,” I replied softly, trying to regain my composure.

Turning to me, he continued. “You have to admit, the first time was something, wasn’t it?” His smile brightened his face, and I looked back out the window as my heart skipped a beat. This wasn’t a time to have such feelings, no matter how attracted to him I was.

This was not what I wanted, I assured myself. Did he really think I wanted to be kidnapped, he was insane.

“Just admit it, and this journey will be so much easier for you,” he continued. “The rush, the adrenaline of being captured, leads to great sex, don’t you think?”

I could hear the excitement in his voice as he spoke and felt my body wanting him. But I kept my mind focused as this wasn’t what I wanted, even if my body wanted him. I was confused at the need and anger tumbling through me as one.

“No,” I replied sully without even looking at him.
