He looks around in shock. “Oh, I completely forgot where we were, I was so focused on you.”
Heat fills my cheeks, and I quickly cover them with my hands.
“Ms. Black are you blushing?” he teases.
“Nope,” I say shaking my head.
“Meanwhile, Jess is probably dancing around her room right now,” I tell him. “I hope Leo doesn’t change his mind.”
“He’ll be here.”
I chew on my lower lip. I really want to ask him about his parents.
“It sounds like there will be a great turnout today,” I tell him. “Eliza and Mason might stop by too.”
He leans his head to the side and gives me a curious look. “Are you worried about them running into Leo?”
“No,” I say. “I think they’re all mature enough to handle seeing each other.”
“I agree,” he says. “Leo is over that situation. He knows some relationships aren’t meant to be.”
The image of Cam and Lilly pops into my head.
“Good.” I say. “So, Lilly mentioned her parents are coming today.”
Cam’s expression changes only slightly. “Okay.”
“And she said they’re bringing their best friends,” I add delicately.
He raises her eyebrows. “My parents are coming, here, today?”
I shrug my shoulders. “She didn’t mention your parents—only that her parents were coming to support the school with their best friends.”
Cam groans and pulls his phone out of his pocket.
“So, they didn’t tell you they were coming?” I ask.
“No. Although it’s not that much of a surprise,” he says as he types a message.
“Maybe it’s someone else,” I suggest. “I’m sure they have other friends besides your parents.
“I doubt it,” he says flatly. “Our parents spend a lot of time together, almost every weekend. They’re probably making a day of it.”
Ugh. I feel terrible I’m the one to break this news to him. Why wouldn’t his parents tell him they were coming to his school? He’s been here a lot longer than Lilly.
“I’m sorry, Cam,” I say, my face falling.
He wraps his arms around me. “Serena, you have nothing to be sorry for.”
“Only delivering news that’s none of my business. I shouldn’t have said anything.”
His phone buzzes, and he groans loudly when he looks at the screen.
“Yep. They are coming with the Winters today,” he announces. “So nice of them to let me know.”
Wow.
“Maybe they wanted to surprise you?” I say trying to make him feel better.
