“It means that if you’re both interested, you should go for it.”

The hockey hunk and the frumpy mom … sure, that could happen.

“I’m not immune to his charms. But that’s all there is to it.”

“You sure?”

“Very sure. He’s far too attractive.”

Kennedy grinned. “No such thing.”

“Let’s take a look, shall we?” Dr. Morgan unraveled the bandage and studied the stitches. “Not bad. Healing nicely.”

“Can I practice?”

“Give it another couple of days. You can work out in the gym, though. Just be careful about anything you have to hold onto. Equipment and the like.”

A chuckling Cal Foreman chirped in from his position, flat on his back one exam table over while he got a massage on his adductor. “Yeah, be careful about holding onto your equipment, O’Malley.”

“Luckily I’m left-handed, so I’m okay there.”

“Ha.” Foreman sniffed. “So how’s it going at the puppy shelter?”

“Fine. Making friends. Influencing people.”

“I heard.”

As the doc was still bandaging his hand, Dex squinted in his teammate’s direction. “You heard what exactly?”

“That you pissed off Ashley, i.e. the woman you need to impress. Making her watch your sex tape.”

“Uh, that did not happen. In fact I apologized in case me bringing it up made her uncomfortable.”

“So you made her talk about your dick instead?”

“No. Did not do that.” What kind of rumors were being spread about him? “Who told you that?”

“Kennedy might have mentioned that you were super sweet to Ashley.”

Exactly. “And?”

“That you were super sweet while saying sorry for being an asshole.”

“Who’s sorry for being an asshole?” Kershaw had just walked in, unpeeling his T-shirt as he took a seat on one of the benches.

Foreman responded with, “O’Malley. He’s been laying the groundwork at the puppy shelter, talking up his sex tape.”

“I have not. I was trying to apologize for?—”

Kershaw snorted. “Sounds like you’re just making trouble for yourself. Ashley’s not gonna stand for that.”

“You know her?”

“Yep. She was amazing when we adopted our cocker spaniel, Bacon. Let us do playdates with Hatch and the puppy to make sure we were a good fit. She’s kind of by the book but cool as well.”
