“Then why bring me back here?”

“Look, what Ella is trying to say is we have dirt that will help you bury Brooklyn on Monday in court. Colton will be free of her, and let’s just say, I don’t think Brooklyn’s bestie, Chelsea, is going to like the footage we have,” Xander supplies.

“What kind of footage?” Teagan asks cautiously.

“Let’s call it security footage.” Ella smirks, turning the laptop to face us and hits the play button.

On screen, we see clear as day, Ryin and my mother damn near dry humping in the booth in the corner. He moves her off his lap, slides out of the booth, and walks toward the hallway.

My mother gets up and follows shortly after. Ella hits the next button and the two of them are in the darkened hallway, but thanks to clear-as-day night vision on the security cameras, there’s no mistaken what the two of them are doing, considering his cock is in her mouth.

Bile rises from my stomach and I grab the bottle of water Xander is handing me to wash it back down. I can’t believe this was the same woman who birthed me, was at every single one of my marching band performances, and helped the music department raised thousands for school trips.

My heart weighs a hundred pounds in my chest and feels like it’s being squeezed like a lemon in a juicing machine.

Ella pushes pause and asks, “Shall I continue?”

“No. Please don’t. I am trying not to upchuck everything I’ve eaten or drank today. Thank you,” Teagan says, trying to compose herself. She looks into my eyes. The cold evil maniacal grin forming on her face is enough to send shivers down my spine and I am not even on the receiving end of it.

“What are you up to?” I ask, not sure if I really want to know the answer.

“Well, considering that this proves infidelity, Brooklyn is going to have to pay Colton alimony. Ryin’s wife becoming my client this morning because she wants to divorce him just got easier too.”

“My dad isn’t going to let her pay him alimony.”

“Yeah, but it’s a bargaining chip, because now he can go after the money she wiped out of the account.”

“You are a fucking shark! Remind me to stay on your good side,” Ella states.

Two Weeks Later…

Life cannot possibly be any better than this—Teagan in a simple white dress, me in my suit without the jacket. My dad standing next to us in his three-piece suit. This gorgeous light house is the spot that Teagan said she wanted to start the rest of our lives at. Why not tie the knot where we started right?

“Teagan, I love everything about you, especially your colorful hair, your need for comfort over style. You are the kindest, smartest woman I’ve ever met in my life. It will be the greatest honor of my life to piss my mother off by calling you my wife for the rest of my life.”

“Logan, I have zero fucks to give when it comes to your mother and what she thinks about us, about me, about our relationship. She doesn’t see how much I love you and you love me because she’s blinded by social status and money. The happiest memories of my life are from when we were eating prepackaged noodles and watching reruns. There’s no one in this world that can love me the way you do.”

“By the power invested in me by the state of Maine, I now pronounce you husband and wife…You may now kiss your bride…” the preacher declares.
