Miles cursed, the muscles in his jaw and neck flexing as his head fell back in pleasure. I felt his release coat my insides as his thrusts slowed, and he planted his hands beside my head on the bed. His grin was lazy and relaxed as he came down to kiss me. "Love you, baby girl. From now until forever."
"From now until forever."
CHAPTER NINE
MILES
I licked my lips and grinned as I watched Jess sign the book and hand it to one of her readers.
It had been almost a year to the day since we started dating, and we were back at the same book signing in Portland.
I still couldn't believe how much our lives had changed since that day. Jess officially moved in with me shortly after we got engaged. She had dreaded the logistics of moving states, but the pros vastly outweighed the cons.
At least they did when I showed her exactly what she could look forward to every night in the same bed as me.
Pride surged inside my chest as she talked animatedly with another reader. My ring sparkled on her finger, and possessiveness swirled through me.
She was mine.
We got married last week in a small ceremony with just close friends and family.
It had been the happiest day of my life, and it joined our other firsts, making me the happiest man alive.
"You haven't stopped staring at her since we walked in here." Hope elbowed me in the side, and I rolled my eyes.
"So?" I asked, barely glancing at her before returning to look at Jess. That dress hugged all her curves in just the right ways. I couldn't wait to get her upstairs after this was over and show her just how much I appreciated her body.
"Earth to Miles." Hope snapped her fingers in front of my face. "I know it's difficult to drag your attention away from your smoking hot wife but remember you're trying to promote the book you just narrated for her?"
As a wedding gift to her, I'd written a short story—with help from Hope and Tessa—and narrated it for her. She loved it so much she wanted to share it with the world.
I already knew she'd say that, so I had hard copies made for the event today.
"True." I drained the rest of my drink and made my way back over to my beautiful wife.
She only blushed a little when I wrapped my arm around her waist to bring her against my side. "Isn't she amazing?" I asked the reader, standing before her table with a wide grin.
"Can I get a picture of the two of you?" The reader asked nervously. "You are just too adorable together. I love your real-life love story."
I kissed Jess' temple before posing next to her for the picture. The woman thanked us, took her book, and went to visit the next author.
"You're so cheesy." Jess rolled her eyes, but her grin never faltered. "Don't think I didn't see you staring at me."
"Oh, I know you did." I bent low, and my lips brushed over her ear as I spoke. "I couldn't stop watching your tits in this dress. I can't wait until I can take you back upstairs and have my way with you, Mrs. Villanueva."
I'd never get tired of calling her that. I was a possessive bastard. I could freely admit it. Her having my name called to the most primal part of me.
"Then you better let me see my readers so I don't have to stay late, Mr. Villanueva."
"Oh God, you're gonna make me hurl." Hope gagged as she came up to the table. "It's almost time to break for lunch, and I'm not letting the two of you out of my sight cause I know you'll just sneak away to go upstairs."
My brows lowered as I shot an angry glare in Hope's direction. "You're a horrible friend."
"Puhlease." She waved a hand in the air. "You love me, and you know it."
"Children, stop fighting, please." Jess giggled, unable to keep a stern tone with us.
Hope sashayed away, telling several of the other authors and narrators that lunch break would be soon.
