“Yes. Oh Séamus, yes!” A single tear spilled and trailed over her cheek.

I caught it with my lips before I kissed her in the middle of the moonlit path. When we broke apart, she rested a hand on my chest—right over the thud of my dark heart.

For a moment, I lost myself in the golden depths of her gaze.

“Séamus?” she whispered.

“Yes?” I ran my thumb over the still damp track of her tear.

“Look at me,” she pleaded.

I did.

“I love you,” she murmured, and my chest clenched, and wild things were set free within it.

I framed her beautiful face in my palms. “Never in all my years would I have thought I would say this to another being, but I love you too.”

We had so much to discuss and so much she needed to know. But that could wait a little bit. For now, all that mattered was capturing her lips with mine and getting home as soon as possible.

She had tamed the beast, and she had no idea.
