Billie: And you’re paying for takeout for all of us.
* * *
Billie: It’s too late in the day to start cooking
* * *
Levi: Really? You can’t just go with the potluck thing?
Ashlynn snickered. “He’s got you there. It wouldn’t be hard for everyone to either pick up something or make something. It’s doesn’t have to be anything gourmet…”
“It would still end up being like takeout so can we please just…can something go my way?” her sister snapped.
Ash: Don’t mess with her on this, Levi. Pick up some Chinese food or maybe a couple of pizzas
“Nope, that’s not going to work either,” Billie said wearily.
“Why not?”
Billie: What about Patrick? Is Marissa with him? Where is he staying?
“How did this all get so complicated?” Ashlynn asked with a small laugh. “I mean…it shouldn’t be this difficult!”
Levi: Hang on
“What do you think he’s doing?”
Billie shrugged. “I have no idea.” She paused before looking up from her phone. “Do you want to invite Reid? It could be fun to bring him over for a low-key Donovan family dinner.”
“You think this is low-key?” she asked with a snort. “Bill, we’re all seeing Dad for the first time since…you know…the whole Mom made him leave revelation. You don’t think that’s going to come up in conversation? There’s no way I want Reid to have to witness any of that.”
“Jeez, relax. It was just a suggestion.”
Levi: Patrick and Marissa are staying at a hotel
* * *
Levi: They are joining us for dinner
* * *
Levi: And I’m picking up a crap ton of Chinese food
* * *
Levi: Happy?
She heard her sister chuckle as she responded.
Billie: Very. And be sure to get extra dumplings. They’re my favorite.
* * *
Billie: Love you!
Tossing her phone down, she looked across the table. “And now back to you.”
“What about me?” Ashlynn asked.
