“If I fuck up, your annoying ass will be right there in my ear like you always are,” he replied.
“On that note, I’m going home to watch episodes of The Ultimatum with Lo before I end up co-parenting like you nigga’s.”
Tyson and I shared a knowing smirk, and then he nodded, letting me take this one because we were thinking the same thing.
“Nigga you’d be in an asylum as soon as Lo left your ass.”
“I like it that way fuck nigga. Make sure he gets home,” Gi said to Tyson before dapping us up and hopping in the car.
“What’s up with you and Lo? Y’all buddy’s now?” I probed, and Tyson smirked.
“Don’t worry about it. Get in the car and take yo’ ass home.”
Granting his request, I climbed into the car and turned up the music to drown out the negative thoughts in my head. I wasn’t banking on Marcus doing the right thing. History said eventually, he’d fuck up because he always did.
Sky was sitting in the living room when I entered the house because she was worried. She had been ever since I mentioned killing Marcus. I could see her eyes studying every inch of me, looking for clues, and then she finally asked.
“Did you kill him?” She tried to disguise the fact she was holding her breath, awaiting my answer.
“Yes,” I lied. Normally, I wouldn’t have, but part of me wanted to see her reaction.
“Okay.” Sky swallowed deep, biding her time to come up with her response. So, do you need an alibi or something? Ember will report him missing, then what? Do we just say we were home all night?”
I planned on playing along, but watching her spew questions like we were cast in a TV show made me laugh.
“This isn’t funny. It’s serious, Macklen. I don’t care about losing him, but I can’t lose you. Cam can’t either.”
“When you’re fuckin’ with the boss, you don’t have those problems. Who the fuck is going to check me?”
Sky frowned and hit me in the chest, realizing I was just fucking with her.
“Why would you play like that?”
“It’s good to know you’d have my back.”
“You did something,” Sky said, grabbing my hand and holding it up like I didn’t feel the pain shooting through it now that the adrenaline had worn off.
“I fucked him up. I told him like I’m telling you. From now on, everything comes through me. No secrets, Sky. If he calls, texts, or so much as waves hello, I need to know about it.”
“Alright! You don’t have to fuss at me.”
Realizing how my words came off, I pulled Sky into my chest and rested my chin on her head.
“My bad. It’s been a long night.” She didn’t respond, so I leaned down to see her face, and sure enough, she was pouting. Sky was sensitive as fuck and hated when I raised my voice, “Stop pouting. I’m sorry.”
“Okay, I’m going upstairs.”
She said okay, but she wasn’t so I scooped her in my arms bridal style like I did Cam when she was upset.
“Get off of me!” Sky fussed, but I was much bigger and stronger, so all that flailing and wiggling did absolutely nothing.
“You better stop before you fall,” I warned, forcing her to settle. “You want to act like a baby, so I’m going to treat you like one.”
Sky complained, but she nestled into each kiss I planted on her cheek.
“Well, come rub me to sleep and pat my back like I’m a baby,” Sky taunted.
“I’ll rub something, alright,” I flirted, putting her feet back on the ground.
