Levi slammed his fist against the door. “Raven, open up. It’s us.”

Dean rolled his eyes as he scooted Levi out of the way. “Can you not be so damn abrasive all the time? Good God.”

His knock was much quieter than Levi’s, but as Raven’s sobs mounted through the door, I was ready to take the fucking thing off its hinges.

“Raven?” Dean asked with a calm voice. “It’s us. Can we come in?”

Whatever the fuck that lawyer had said to her, he was as good as dead.

“We’re coming in if you don’t open up,” Levi barked.

I shook my head. “It astounds me that you’re single, you know?”

Levi shot me a look. “Raven?”

But the only thing that got louder were the hiccups that came with her sobs.

“All right,” Levi said as he walked backward. “I’m coming in! Move!”

Just as he got into position for a running start, however, I simply reached down and gripped the doorknob.

Before tossing the bedroom door open.

“See?” I asked as I ushered in toward the bedroom with my arm. “That’s how a normal shifter does it.”

He scoffed as he brushed past me, and I craned my neck around the corner only to see him sliding his arms beneath Raven’s trembling body. She clutched something against her chest, but I couldn’t even begin to figure out what the hell it was. Levi’s arms shimmered as if someone had doused them in glitter and strung him up like a damn disco ball.

And I watched as that glimmer slowly infiltrated Raven’s entire body.

“There we go,” Levi said as he walked her over to her bed, “there’s a good girl. Just take deep breaths for me.”

“Oh, m-m-my—my God,” Raven choked out.

“Shh,” Levi said softly as he turned to face us. “Just focus on the sound of my voice.”

That shimmering glitter shit his body did quickly took over her entire body, and her sobs subsided. The tremors working their way throughout her body settled down, causing her breathing to even out as her muscles fell prey to the softness of her mattress. Levi stroked her hair with a tenderness to his voice that I’d never heard before. And as I looked over at Dean, I didn’t find the worry that I figured I would.

Instead, I found resolve.

Frustration.

Determination.

He was ready to take out Elias, just like me.

“We’ll figure it out,” I said as I placed a hand on his shoulder.

“Do you think he finally told her?” he whispered. “What happened to Colin?”

I sighed. “Do any of us really know what happened to him, though?”

“Can we get you anything?” Levi asked in that delicate tone of voice.

“So weird,” I murmured as I folded my arms across my chest.

Raven buried her face into his body. “Coffee. My God, I need coffee.”

Dean nodded as he backtracked out of the room. “A pot of coffee for all of us, coming right up.”
