Elias had to have told her what really happened to Colin.
In through your nose on a four-count, out through your mouth on an eight-count.
The breathing exercises Colin had once taught me rushed through the forefront of my mind. I had to keep stable. I had to keep my wits about me. Raven was going through some heavy-ass shit, which meant it was up to us to keep stable so that she could prop herself up whenever necessary.
But not knowing what that lawyer had said to her made me feral with worry.
“You good?” Levi asked as he stepped out onto the porch.
One, two, three, four. “Yep.”
He tilted his head. “You sure about that?”
Out, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. “Uh huh.”
“Because you don’t look all right.”
I whipped around and snapped at him. “You got something to say, or does my ass look that good in these jeans?”
But he simply grinned. “I mean, it’s a nice ass.”
I balled my fists up at my sides. “Has she come down yet?”
Levi shook his head. “No, but Dean and I were thinking of just going and knocking on the door up there. See if she’s hungry or something.”
“Or you could let yourself off that leash you keep so damn tight around your neck and figure it out for yourself.”
A smirk crept across Levi’s face before closed his eyes and tilted his head back. His shoulders rolled once… twice… three times before they settled down into position. He got into that stance whenever he used his powers to sift through the air for answers. And while I had no fucking how clue to describe Levi’s powers, I knew he’d be able to get a sense of what was appropriate action for us at that moment. The best description for what he did was that he searched the air for signs. Something about the wind carrying the world’s secrets, or some hinky bullshit like that.
And when his eyes shot open, I knew he had an answer for me.
“Well?” I asked as I walked up to him. “You gonna tell me what’s up? Or do you need an Alpha’s command to make that happen?”
Levi pivoted on the balls of his feet. “She’s crying.”
I didn’t hesitate to leap back up onto the porch. “Shit.”
“Something’s wrong,” he murmured as he charged back into the house. “Dean! Upstairs! Now! Something’s up with Raven!”
I unhinged my jaw and let out a bombastic bark to alert Raven that we were coming. Dean soared out of the living room, rushing up the stairs with us as I took them three at a time. It felt like an eternity, getting the three of us up those damned stairs and down the hallway. We moved as quickly as we could, and the wolf beneath my skin itched to be let free.
Devour the ones who hurt her.
Take them down.
Slaughter them all.
“You good?” Dean asked as he all stopped just shy of the master bedroom door.
I drew in a deep, sobering breath. “I’ll be better once I figure out what in the fuck that lawyer told her.”
“She’s upset?” Dean huffed.
I shrugged. “Levi said she was crying, and that’s all I needed to know.”
Even Dean’s face settled into one of curt resolve. “If he fucked her up, I’m fucking him up.”
I nodded. “Right there with you.”
