“Use your powers, Lovebug. Reach deep within yourself. Your wolf will know what to do.”
I shook my head. “Stay with me. Please. I’ll do anything, but I can’t do this alone.”
His smile grew. “Lovebug, you’re already doing it, but you’re never alone. Get those men home. Use your powers. Let Wolfy help you.”
I balked. “How do you know?—”
He faded away. “Do it now, Lovebug. Now! Reach down deep!”
My gaze fluttered open, and looked to the throng of hungry bears in front of me. I kept my men behind me, feeling them writhing on the ground in pain while they softly howled up at the sky. Reach down deep. I had to reach down deep.
But how in the fuck did I do that?
CLOSE YOUR EYES.
I did as Wolfy asked.
NOW, ENVISION YOUR SAFETY.
What?
JUST FUCKING DO IT ALREADY.
Even though there were an impossible amount of bears pressing in toward us, I did as my father and Wolfy asked. I closed my eyes and allowed my senses to turn inward instead of outward.
Okay, now what?
NOW, BE PATIENT. FOCUS ON YOUR BODY AND MAKE SURE YOU’RE TOUCHING THE GUYS.
On it.
I flopped onto my belly on the forest floor and stuck all four of my legs out in every single direction. I made sure I was touching all three of them before I closed my eyes once more and focused on the beating of my heart. The blood, rushing deftly through my ears. My fur, enveloping me and keeping me warm even though an icy cold breeze kicked up.
And all of a sudden, the ground beneath me shifted.
“Alpha?”
“My God, what happened to them?”
“Healers! I need all hands on deck!”
“You, take Hudson. I’ve got Dean. We need a team for Levi!”
“Alpha, are you okay? Come here, let me have a look at you.”
When I opened my eyes, we were no longer in the woods. Hell, we were no longer in our wolf forms! We were all clothed, and back in the healer’s chalet, and for the fucking life of me I had no clue how we got there.
SEE? TOLD YOU!
I chuckled at Wolfy’s voice.
“Alpha, open your mouth.”
I focused on the healer in front of me and did as she asked.
“All right, give me those ears.”
I tilted my head to each side as teams of healers dragged my men in all directions. They huddled around them, laying hands on them and creating caloric tethers to help them heal.
