I took a step forward. “And, what? Finish that statement.”

Dean’s gaze filled with worry. “I think he’s in trouble. He reached out for help in a vision, and?—”

I nodded. “He reached out to me, too. In groupthink.”

Levi paused. “I didn’t hear him.”

Hudson shrugged. “Neither did I.”

“Well, I know what I heard,” I said as I heaved a heavy sigh. “And with Dean’s vision, I’m worried that he’s in legitimate trouble.”

“Wasn’t he supposed to be here recuperating?” Hudson asked.

I raked my hands through my dripping wet hair. “Yes, but at this point, I’m willing to believe just about anything. Something big is going on, and my worry is that Brody is part of whatever plan that’s unfolding.”

“You mean, you think Brody is responsible for all of this?” Hudson asked.

I rolled my eyes. “No. What I am saying is that Brody was next in line, genetically, to take over the pack. Maybe the bears are targeting him because they think he’s Alpha right now when he’s not.”

“Shit,” Levi hissed.

“Can you contact him again?” Dean asked.

I shook my head. “I’ve already tried, numerous times. He sounded like he was in pain, too.”

Dean closed his eyes. “That’s because he’s being held by the bear shifters.”

“What?” Hudson growled.

Dean slowly fluttered them open. “In my vision, he was in a cage. And I heard King Rothmir in the background.”

“Holy shit, he’s fucked,” Levi said breathlessly.

My eyes darted between the three of them. “Fucked? Why? Who’s King Rothmir?”

Dean snickered. “Only the most ruthless king those bear fuckers have ever had.”

Levi nodded. “He has the capability of sucking the human life out of wolves. He can take a wolf shifter and remove all traces of human within them, making them a volatile, hungry wolf for the rest of its days.”

My jaw fell agape. “How the hell did we not know that he had been taken?! I thought he was just in pain. He didn’t tell me anything about bear shifters or a king. He just said he needed help!”

Hudson stepped up to the plate. “I suggest we go by his place. Take a look around. See if we can find anything.”

Levi shook his head. “Dean and I already went there to look for him.”

“He doesn’t mean look for Brody, specifically,” I said as I cracked my neck. “He means that we go there looking for any sign of how in the hell he ended up with those bear shifters in the first place. So, let’s go. It’s worth a shot.”

We wasted no time in getting to Brody’s chalet toward the back of the pack neighborhood. However, I wasn’t nearly as prepared for the chaos I witnessed the moment I walked through his front door.

“Uh, guys?” I asked.

“What the fuck happened to this place?” Levi asked.

I pointed to the broken coffee table and busted television. “Was his place not like this when you guys came to check on it?”

Dean shook his head slowly as he made his way into the kitchen. “It was pristine. It was so damn pristine that his bed was made upstairs, and when I slapped my hand against the comforter, dust popped up.”

Hudson scoffed. “You know damn good and well Brody doesn’t make shit, much less his bed.”
