Don’t be afraid of success, Shona D.

She should call her parents, she decided. Let them know about the feature. They wouldn’t hesitate to tell their friends of her achievements, even though many humans still didn’t approve of the new wave of youngsters working in Motham.

Her dad and mom were different. They’d always been sympathetic to monsters, even before people were willing to own up to it.

Shona picked up her cell and put in a call, but there was no answer. They were probably still busy in the deli they owned on the outskirts of Twill, one of the human towns in the valley outside of Motham City.

She sent them a text message: “Dove Realty is featured in Motham Monthly this Friday. I’ll buy you a copy.” They wouldn’t be able to get it in Twill. The human towns didn’t stock monster publications.

She was about to put her cell in her purse when it rang. Mom or Dad must have seen her message.

Except she didn’t recognize the number.

She put the phone to her ear. “Hi, Shona here.”

“Of Dove Realty?” The female voice was clipped.

“Yes, that’s me.”

“Best realtor in Motham?”

“I’d like to think so.”

“Good. I want to set up a meeting with my boss, Tor Arquin.”

“Sure, um, is he looking to sell? Buy?”

“Buy.”

“Great.” Shona grabbed her diary out of her purse. “I could see him later this week.”

“Tomorrow, eleven am.”

“Er, I don’t think I can do eleven.” Shona grimaced, eyeing her full page of appointments.

“I think you can, Miss Dove. Or is it Ms?”

“Just Shona is fine. I like to be informal.” She flipped the page. “I’m sorry, the earliest I can make is Thursday at ten am.”

There was a definite sniff of disapproval. “Tor Arquin will be the richest client you’ll ever have. I would be making time if I were you, Ms Dove.”

This female was beginning to get Shona’s back up. She really didn’t like people trying to push wealth and status. “I see. Who exactly is Tor Arquin?”

“Look him up,” snapped the voice. “He’ll be at your offices at eleven sharp tomorrow. Be there please, Ms Dove.”

The phone went dead.

Shona frowned at it.

How rude. But even so, she couldn’t help bringing up Moogle’s search engine the very next second.

The name Tor Aquin brought up a string of results. Shona’s eyes widened.
