He arched an eyebrow. “Bossy,” he finished for her.

That did feel like a familiar description of her, if she didn’t get all tripped up on how easily he called her pretty.

“Fifteen seconds!” the announcer called.

Kru scooted his chair back. “You want to play cat and mouse, okay. So long as you know which one you are.”

“Time!”

His grin was feral. “Talk to you soon, mouse.” He stood and made his way to the next table, leaving Cadence to stare after him.

That had been one of the most intimate and revealing five minutes she had ever experienced, and he hadn’t even touched her boobies.

He only wanted to talk to her?

The waitress set another beer in front of her. “From him again,” she said, twitching her head toward Kru.

“When did you even have the time to do that?” she asked him. “Why are you so smooth? Is this how you charm ladies? Is this what you do in town all the time?”

Kru gave a hot-boy smile to the woman across from him, and it made Cadence want to kiss him. Kiss him? No! Kick him. Yeah, kick him, not kiss him.

Speaking of kissing, she checked for Lucia Lucious Lips, but her Crewmate had disappeared from her table and was now standing off to the side talking to Jenna and Lucas. Jenna and Lucas!

“Move,” a growl sounded.

Gunner stood behind the man across from her, his eyes glowing that intimidating bi-colored shade that scared humans. The man across from her stood immediately and headed straight for the bar.

Gunner turned the chair and sat on it backwards. “We can ask anything we want for the next five minutes?”

“Four minutes,” Kru growled.

“Hey, focus on me. That hag already got her turn,” the twenty-something bombshell across from him complained.

“I will eat you,” Cadence promised low as she leaned over to the girl. The tiger inside of her found a sick satisfaction in the fear in the woman’s eyes.

God, she was a demon tonight.

“Question number one,” Gunner said.

“What are you even doing here?” Cadence interrupted.

Ignoring her, he asked, “Why did you reject me?”

Cadence’s mouth fell open. “Why did I reject you senior year in high school, a hundred years ago? I don’t know, Gunner…because I was a freaking immature barely-adult who didn’t know what I was doing.”

“You should leave,” Kru growled.

“Or what? What are you going to do?” Gunner asked.

“Kill you,” Kru said, with nothing but absolute belief and truth in his tone.

“This is supposed to be my time,” the woman pointed out.

“Look, lady, there is a really nice guy named Andy who is alone at the bar over there, and if I was worth a damn, I would claim his number because he actually seems like a really good guy. Go grab him up.”

The woman followed Cadence’s pointing finger to Andy, who was sitting at the bar talking amicably with the bartender. “Fine,” the woman gritted out. “I don’t want anything to do with your shifter drama shit anyway. You’re nothing but trouble.”

“Ouch,” Kru murmured as the woman stomped toward the bar.
