I never thought there were good men until I met Liam. Then Screech. Then Raid. Now all the men of the Ravage MC. Each of them showed me a different side of what a man should be. Not the one that Miles and his asshole kids showed me way too many times to count.
Still, having the brothers out there fighting my battles weighed heavily on my heart.
“Do you think this will really be over soon?” I asked Screech.
“Your guys’ll make sure it is. One way or another. You gotta know that, Nyx. Those men love you,” he told the ceiling that had all the answers in the world.
I didn’t tell Screech what I’d thought about doing to myself. Nor the reactions of Raid and Liam. And definitely not our time between the sheets. All of that needed to stay between the three of us.
No one needed to know. Even if the tall man was my best friend. He was also a guy which made it a bit different for me.
Hell only knew what Screech would think about all of this. Not the sex part, but the taking pills part. While my whole goal was to make it less traumatic, now with my head clear, I knew it would have only caused more heartbreak.
It was something I never wanted to even think about doing to my guys again.
I loved them.
And I wanted Liam and Raid. I also wanted to be here with them.
“Maybe I should go out and see about findin’ you some weed. That sound okay?” I asked Screech whose head popped up. He was in real pain. Shit. And here I was talking about my anxiety and fears.
“Hell yeah. That or pain pills. I’m good with either.”
“Not sure about the pain pills, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. I’ll see what I can find.”
Banging on the locked door, it opened from the other side. A kid maybe high school aged opened it, let me out, then locked the door again. Instead of asking who he was, I moved quickly through the hallway.
The building was all cement blocks. Not in a jail way, but in a military base kind of way. The rooms were nothing like either. They were nice, comfortable, and clean. Whoever took care of them really put their time and energy into them.
Moving down the stairs and opening up the big metal door, the bright light of the day had me squinting my eyes. It was beautiful out. Too bad my mind was everywhere but in a good place to enjoy it.
It made me realize that I really liked windows. While the safe house served a purpose, there was something about being underground that didn’t appeal to me. It cut off the free feeling.
The grassy area was large with picnic tables, a fire pit, and a large playground off to the side. No one was outside surprisingly, so I made my way into the clubhouse.
I’d only been here once before with Raid. To say it was a bit uneasy would be an understatement, but Screech gave me a mission. Something to do. Something to focus on.
He may need the pot, but he also helped me in thinking of something else even for a brief moment. At this point, beggars can’t be choosers.
Opening the metal door into the clubhouse, it took a few blinks to get my eyes to focus with it being so dark inside compared to out. Music could be heard in a low tone along with laughter.
Female laughter.
Following the sound, I moved down the hallway and into the main room. Tables scattered around the main floor with chairs at each. A pool table was off to the left and off to the right was a very large open space.
“Hey, girl!” Austyn, Cruz’s daughter came out of a door on the right wiping her hands off with a towel.
“Hey.”
“Come on back,” she told me, motioning me to go through the door where all the laughter was coming though.
Apprehension filled me. What was this, some ritual thing? Or would it be like last time with the funny stories of Raid?
Walking through the door, smiles from all the women of the Ravage MC greeted me in what looked like a supersized industrial kitchen. There were pots on the stove with steam coming out of them, and the smell of onions and garlic filled the air.
“Let me guess. You’re goin’ nuts thinkin’ about the guys and need somethin’ to do,” Austyn said from behind me as some of the women started coming my way.
Indie hugged me. I didn’t know what to do with that, so I hugged her back. She was really a nice woman and Raid’s sister-in-law. “Hey, girl. It’s hard when they go do this kind of stuff. Come help me decorate a cake.”
