“Great. That can be done later,” I said, standing up. “Let’s go. I’ve got you.” I held my hand out to Nyx who didn’t move a muscle, her eyes flashing to me.
“Where?” she asked, her brow rising.
“The clubhouse. I can keep you safe there. Figure out those fuckers, make a plan, and get you safe.”
Nyx shook her head. “Two problems, Cujo. One—I’m not bringing any of this to your family. And two?—”
“We’re in a fortress,” I tossed in.
She cut me off. “Two—if you think I’m going to leave Screech to fend for himself, you don’t know me at all.”
Motherfucker. Should’ve fucking known that shit. Of course, she wouldn’t leave Screech, and no way in fuck I could just bring him to the clubhouse without any security directed for him in place. He was a fucking hell of a hacker. I sure as fuck didn’t need him attempting to get into Ravage shit. We had enough going on to throw more gas on the fire.
Yes, Nyx trusted him, but I only trusted my brothers. There was a line that would always be there. The brotherhood was everything. As was my woman. The others in Nyx’s life wasn’t happening.
Rolling places in my head, I announced, “I have a safehouse. Secure and out of the way. We’ll go there, then figure out what the fuck we’re going to do about this. Would that work?”
“And Liam?” she asked, and I felt the anger in my chest grow. Whether it was because of her obvious feelings for him or the fact it was him, I had no idea, but it was looking as though Liam was going to be around, and I’d have to try not to kill him. Yet.
“Didn’t he say he had family shit to do?” I asked, my focus going to the man on the couch and tilting my brow in question. If he had shit to do, he needed to go and do it. I’d handle this situation. He came to tell Nyx those assholes were on their way, and his job was done. He should leave.
“Right now, Nyx is the priority. The other shit can wait,” Liam responded.
“How do I know you’re not involved? This shit is comin’ from Atlanta. You could be these fucker’s eyes and ears, and as soon as we turn our back, you’ll tell them where we are and stab us all.”
Liam rose from his seat, squaring off with me as I rose as well. Fuck, he was tall. We were evenly matched in height and width. He’d definitely filled out over the years.
When our eyes connected, I felt it. A pierce to the heart flashing me to the past that I quickly brushed away. Fuck him and fuck that feeling.
“I’ve done more over the years for Nyx than you could even imagine. You can take your big dick energy and shove it up your ass,” he fired back.
My big dick energy. Fuck that shit. We were chest to chest now. “Fuck off. We don’t need your help or anything from you.”
“You’d like it if I just went away, but I’m not.Idon’t give up on people.” Liam’s words landed a blow in my heart. A blow that I didn’t think would hit this hard. It was what he thought, though. And I couldn’t deny it. I might not have given up on him, but I did push him away. But I didn’t let any of that show. Fuck that.
“Neither do I.”
Nyx squeezed her body between us. She sighed deep, and I broke eye contact from Liam and looked down at her. Her voice wasn’t as strong as moments ago, but it still had steel in it. “I need you two to stop. I don’t have the energy for the both of you right now, considering my life is a fucked up mess. If you can’t help or don’t want to be part of this, you’re welcome to exit left. Since I doubt that’s an option, you two need to cut the shit and get along.”
“That’s easier said than done,” I told her.
“Then leave,” Liam fired back.
“Never,” I retorted.
“Then knock it off, Raid. I mean it,” Nyx ordered. “I’m not dealing with your bullshit.”
“As much as this feels like a really bad sitcom, we need to get Nyx out of here,” Screech said above all of us. “Know you both want her safe, so let’s stick on that page together and get her somewhere now.”
Unfortunately, he was right. Nyx was first. I might’ve let that slip for a moment, but not again.
I took a step back and pulled out my cell, hitting my brother’s contact. He answered on the second ring. “Yeah.”
“Is QR13 available and stocked?”
“Available, yeah. Stocked, no, but I can make it that way,” he responded. “Wanna tell me why you need to know?”
“Nyx. Meet me there,” I told him and saw Nyx’s body stiffen.
