“Nah, she can peel tomatoes,” a voice called out.

“Or fry up the hamburger,” another voice said, but they seemed to be around a corner, and I couldn’t see who it was.

Laughter could be heard all around, and I immediately felt at ease. These women seemed to have that affect, making me feel like I belonged even though I was very new to their way of life.

“Hello there.” Bella, Raid’s mom, said, coming up to me and wrapping me up in a hug as well. I returned it without hesitations. The woman was beautiful and always kind.

“Hello.”

“How are you?” she asked.

“Okay. Ready for the guys to get home.”

She pulled away smiling. “I’m happy you feel like this is your home. Because it is. Embrace it.”

While I wasn’t sure exactly what I was embracing at the moment except for her, I smiled back, really liking Raid’s mom.

“Working on it. Has anyone heard from them yet?” I asked the room of women, not really caring who answered, just hoping that someone would say yes.

“Nothin’ yet,” Princess, Cruz’s wife and the head woman around here said. “They won’t until their home. You gotta be patient.”

“That’s easier said than done,” I groaned.

“We’ll put ya to work,” Bella said, taking my hand, but I leaned into Austyn.

“Screech needs weed. Anyone have that around here? Or pain pills.” Austyn looked to Princess who nodded saying, “I’ve got it. You have fun.”

There was no hesitation in my confidence in her to take care of Screech. I knew she would. It was the type of woman she was. Now if Screech pulled something, she’d probably be the first one to cut off his fingers. But since he was being good, there shouldn’t be any problems.

Being here with these women was fun.

It really did feel like home.

Four hours later, food consumed, and dishes washed, I was on my way back up to see Screech. I felt bad leaving him for so long, but I was hoping that once he had his weed he’d maybe sleep for a while. He needed the rest.

The gates to the compound began to creak open, and all the ol’ ladies came pouring out of the clubhouse.

They were here.

Anticipation built. Did they get the deed done? Was the Hamilton family gone? Were any of them hurt? So many questions and being in the dark for this long was killing me.

Yes, the women kept my mind off of it for a while, but now that they were here, it was all flooding back to me in a swirl of emotions.

It felt like years for the gates to fully open and for the black SUVs to come into view, but it was only seconds. That damn time thing again.

When the doors of the vehicle opening and men started getting out, I held my breath, waiting. Always waiting.

First Raid exited and didn’t appear to be hurt. Then moments later Liam got out. Then I said fuck it. I ran with everything I had, and lucky for me, they were standing next to each other or this little trick would’ve ended up with me on my ass.

But I jumped as high as I could and wrapped one leg and arm around Raid and the other leg and arm around Liam, pulling their heads tight to either side of me.

“Damn, you’re a spider monkey,” Raid said, gripping my ass to help hold me up. Liam’s arm was around there somewhere, but I was in heaven being able to hold my guys.

“Shut up and hold me,” I told them in their necks, not caring how close they were or what anything appeared to be. They were both mine. I didn’t care who found out or who knew.

“Any time.”
