Drew.

Maybe she could have all those things. The tension in her body built until she was once more on edge. Drew brought a hand between them and fingered her clit, rubbing the tight ball of nerves until she cried out. His mouth crashed down on hers, capturing her breath, and she moaned into the kiss as he emptied himself inside her.

For a moment, Alyssa worried about the lack of a condom, but as her body relaxed beneath his, she didn’t care. She held him tight, refusing to let him go until he’d finished pulsing, until his weight crushed her, and until their breathing slowed.

She lazily lay on the bed while Drew went to the bathroom for a cloth. He came back empty-handed. "What bag has your clothes?”

Alyssa lifted onto her elbows. It wasn’t until that moment she realized her bed was bare. They’d had sex on the stripped mattress. She pointed at the big green luggage bag. “That one.”

Drew returned with a blanket and her pillow, which he tossed on the bed before heading back to the bathroom with a small washcloth. When they were both clean, Drew sat on the corner of the bed. “Do you want to talk now?”

She shook her head. With a yawn, she pulled the blanket up over her body. “Too tired.”

It had been two sleepless nights, a lot of stress, followed by phenomenal sex. She was so exhausted that she barely registered Drew crawling beneath the blanket to spoon her.

Maybe it was stupid to trust him so much, but her body had deemed him a requirement, and her wolf was content with her decision to stay. She needed him. She only hoped he needed her just as much.

Chapter Eight

An hour later, Drew reluctantly left the bed. He took a moment to appreciate her smooth, naked skin before pulling the blanket back over her. Glancing at the door, he noted how few bags there were. Definitely a big pile of items, but when he considered that the mound was likely the sum of everything she owned, Drew had to wonder once more where she had come from.

Today he would find out. With his lust finally satisfied, now he’d get his answers. He looked once more at her sleeping form. Like him, she probably hadn’t slept last night, and the night before, she’d been up painting. She was exhausted. It had been two nights of little sleep for them both, and he wanted nothing more than to crawl back into that bed, but he had business to attend to.

Tugging on his pants, he pulled out his phone and placed a call to Callum as he stepped into the hallway.

The beta answered, getting right to the point. “Find her?”

“Yeah. She came home a couple of hours ago.”

“Hours ago?” Callum huffed. “So, who is she?”

“Don’t know.”

There was a pause. “What do you mean you don’t know? Didn’t you talk to her?”

“I’m going to do that next.”

“Next?”

“Once she wakes up.”

Callum released a long-suffering sigh. “Mated males are such a pain in the ass.”

Drew laughed. “One day, you’ll know the feeling.”

Normally, Callum would crack a joke. Something along the lines of ‘not anytime soon, I hope’ or ‘only if she’s got a magic pussy’; something to that effect. But his second in command was quiet.

“Want me to call the pack off the hunt?”

“Yes. That’s why I called.” He eyed the busted door. “And send Gregory to fix her lock. Someone may have kicked in the door.”

This time, Callum laughed. “Will do. So you’re not coming in today? Should I get Rachel to move your schedule around?”

“Yes. Thank you. And tomorrow morning too. I’m going to introduce her to the pack once I get some sleep and some answers.”

“Tomorrow morning, you can’t.”

Drew frowned. “Why not?”
