“This is a restricted area, Bill. You know that.”

“Claudia, we need to talk.”

“I’m tired, Bill. Whatever it is, it can wait.”

“Lidi,” King whispered as the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

“Just tell me what you came to tell me.” I said, steeling myself. When none of them spoke up, I asked, “Any word on the neurosurgeon?”

“We got lucky on that one. Dr. Abby Robinette was at Vanderbilt when she heard of the accident. She will be arriving shortly, thanks to Mrs. Steiner. Woman sent her private plane.”

Dr. Robinette was good. Actually, better than good. The woman was at the top in her field and had no problem taking chances when it came to saving a patient. I thought it fitting that only a daredevil saves another daredevil. If Trip had any chance of surviving, it would be Dr. Robinette.

Nodding, I removed my foot from the pedal, stopping the water as I reached for a sterile blue rag. Wiping my hands, I turned and faced the man, leaning against the basin for support. “Alright. Tell me.”

Bill Caldwell held up a file and solemnly said, “The hospital took in forty-seven patients. Nineteen of them children under the age of ten. Injuries ranged from minor cuts and abrasions to broken bones. One kid had to have an appendectomy.”

“Get to the gruesome shit, Bill. No sense putting it off.”

“Of the forty-seven, thirteen died of injuries they sustained in the accident. Two more were DOA.”

“How many were children?”

“Three.”

“Shit,” I sighed.

When Bill didn’t leave, I looked at the man, who stood, hands shaking as he gripped the clipboard tightly.

“What? What else is there? Because I know King and Frank aren’t here for that. So just tell me what you really came to tell me.”

“Claudia, you know one of the patients.”

“I know. I worked on Trip.”

“No, Claudia. Someone else.”

Pushing off the sink, I readied myself for the boom. “Who?”

“Claudia, your brother Eugene was in the accident as well.”

Chapter Twenty-One

Frank

The second Bill said Eugene’s name, Claudia’s eyes rolled back in her head. Pushing past the man, I barely caught her before she hit the floor.

Time seemed to stop after that as King ordered all club business closed until further notice while brothers divided their time between Trip and Eugene’s room. Scribe and Henley canceled their honeymoon, saying they refused to leave their family in our time of need. My brother Georgie was busy filling in for Claudia. She refused to leave her brother’s side. While Enigma’s injuries weren’t as severe as Trip’s, Claudia’s brother still hadn’t woken up.

The neurosurgeon that my granny called was none other than Valhalla from the Nyght Nymphs MC. When King spotted her walking into the hospital and she realized it was Trip who needed her expertise, Valhalla didn’t waste time calling in others. Soon, the entire ICU ward was inundated with women from the Nyght Nymphs. All medical specialists in their respected fields. The women worked with Jessica and the other nurses to help clear the hospital. As it was, only five patients remained. The worst was under the care of Valhalla and my brother Georgie.

“Frank?”

Turning to the door, I saw King standing with Valhalla. Getting to my feet, I leaned down and kissed Claudia’s head. “Be right back, baby.”

Leaving my woman, I walked out of the room, shutting the door behind me. “What’s up?”

“We’ve got a problem,” King began. “We can’t find Sugar.”
