I try to cover my giggles as Killian carries me away from the kitchen.
"I'm still going to talk to her," he warns as he pushes us against one of the walls.
"What got you up so early?" Killian doesn't have any tests today, so I was even more surprised to see him in the kitchen.
"You left, and I couldn't sleep."
"I needed to go to work."
"No, you didn't. I like you in those scrubs, though. Gray suits you."
I roll my eyes, letting him see me do it, and he finds his favorite spot near my ear. His kisses now are like those promises he gives me every night. My thighs find his cock as he lets out a growl.
"I'll fuck you on that desk over there if you keep doing that."
"I dare you." I shouldn't have dared him because soon after, I find myself being fucked on one of the desks.
"Your first test is hygiene. I want to see how you polish the table and yourselves before work," Emanuel instructs in a dry voice.
Most of the students who adored him before have become his bullies. His gaze, which had searched for me over the past two years, doesn't dare look in my direction. This is going to be an absolutely abysmal test.
Each of us gets a messy table with materials that are difficult to clean. My table is covered with sweets that are difficult to remove. I start the work with boiling water, removing the caramel lumps and other sugars. This test is measured in time, and we all go through this phase.
"Excellent. Now I want you to disinfect the tables. Think big. You're going to be the greatest confectioners in the world, so shine the place as if that's what will separate you from a Michelin star."
Task after task, the entire class seems to have passed the first stage of the exam.
"Fernandez," Emanuel calls before I leave the classroom. I stop in my tracks, waiting for his wicked comment. "I owe you an apology and a thank you." The confusion in my eyes is probably evident because he adds, "My desire to forget where I came from made me pounce on you."
I nod. "What Killian did was wrong, and I'm sorry for telling the truth."
"I hope you pass your tests tomorrow."
"Thank you."
The corridors are crowded with students. Some of them leave the classrooms with satisfied grins on their faces, while some leave with tears. Everyone except me comes from wealth, but this place is an entrance to the future in their closed-up world.
I decide to text Serena and Santino to let them know that I passed my first test. Serena doesn't answer, but I don't expect her to at this hour. She must be sleeping with Connie.
Santino replies, however, and I smile at the attention he gives me. I can admit I was wrong about the Fierro brothers. Neither one of them is all bad.
Santino: How was your exam today?
Me: Fine. Emanuel looked pleased, which was odd.
Santino: why? Your cooking is incredible. Dad even said that he wanted you to make a cake for Connie's official introduction.
Me: I'll be happy to.
Unlike Santino and Killian, I don't trust Franco in the least. Something about him just doesn't sit well with me, but I can't refuse, especially if I plan on staying in New York and opening a little place of my own.
Me: When will it be?
Santino: In four days. I told him that you have exams, but he really wants it to be you.
Me: I'll be there.
