Page 84 of Promise to Break

"I'll take care of it," he says. "I promise." I believe him, so I just nod and let his lips capture mine, not caring if Lila or all the students who left the class can see us. Here, I don't have to hide from his father, his brother or my sister out of fear of what they might think. For just two more months, I can afford to be with Killian and give him what he wants from me.

"Come sit with us." I ignore Killian and scan the cafeteria for Raven. The last thing she'd want to do is sit with her future fiancé at the same table only to receive false insults about her appearance.

"I'll only sit with you on the condition that you can convince Raven to sit with us, too, and if Julian is already here, then he can join us."

I certainly didn't expect the nod I get and his search for his cousin. I linger behind him while looking at his ass. Damn, that ass. To hell with the smile. He only shows me. And to hell with his dick. Especially with his dick.

"Are you going to stare at my ass for much longer?"

Busted. I don't care. It's his fault he looks like this. Great, Maricela. Now, you sound like the female version of Andrew Tate. I should stay away from pizzas from now on. "Does it bother you?"

"You know it doesn't. My ass is glad to be at your disposal, as is my cock and the rest of me."

"Cocky bastard," I mutter under my breath as I see Raven already sitting at our usual table with her plate of food, giggling with Julian, who plays with her now fake purple strands. It suits her. "We both established that I know how and what I am. Now go, Raven is waiting with that one." I roll my eyes at his back. It's cute that he's jealous of Julian. "He's a nice guy, so treat him as such," I scold, letting Killian gather me into his arms. The childish voice inside me dances with all her body parts because of his reaction, and for once, I let her.

"Ray," he starts.

"What do you want, Killer?"

"How do you know he wants something?" I ask.

"The last time he called me Ray was when I… Never mind." She looks at Killian with her cute face.

"Tell her," he says.

"You told me it's the one thing you'd never forgive me for. I'm not telling. You tell, Little Kill."

Julian claps, then jumps away from the chair he's sitting in, just in case. "Little Kill?"

"Don't you dare," Killian warns. Oh, I am so going to dare.

"Tell us, girl. I need all the dirt about the Fierros," Julian says, as flamboyant as ever. He does that when he wants to piss people off, and he clearly wants to do so now.

"Juli," Raven warns.

"What, Sunny? You know that I won't say shit. For crying out loud, my parents work for his family. I've seen things, and I'm still here. The big boss knows that I'm as quiet as a cemetery."

I make an "I will kill you" sign with my hand, but it only encourages him.

"It doesn't look that way to me," Killian says.

"I'll continue to irritate you as much as I want about my girls. You've hurt Mari for too long." Julian stands with his feet spread in a defiant stance. He's slightly bigger than Killian and the other deviants. Considering how often he gets into rough situations in the name of football, I wouldn't be surprised if Juli could beat Killian to a pulp.

"I don't intend to hurt her anymore. I just came to invite Raven to sit at the table with us. Maricela said she won't unless I convince Raven to join us."

"You want her to sit next to that frustrating Brit who's supposed to marry her and calls her ugly? Tell me, does this friend of yours have vision problems or something?" Killian shrugs, looking for a response from Raven.

"He won't do anything to her. Like you said, they're going to get married, and if he hurts even one hair on her head, he'll have to deal with me," Killian says as if it's a done deal. Maybe it is.

Julian says, "That would probably lead to war, wouldn't it?" Killian's blank stare has Julian rolling his eyes.

I have never felt so protected as I do now with Julian. He really sees us as sisters. It's an experience I didn't know I needed until today. I've always been the one who protected Serena no matter what was in front of us, and today, for the first time, there's someone standing up to my prior bully of all people to protect my best friend and me.

Raven puts her manicured fingernail to her lip as if she's thinking of something that Killian won't agree to before she smiles a wicked smile that I'm not used to seeing on her face. Our little Sunny looks like she's ready to cut a bitch, and I can't wait for that moment. "I'm willing to come sit with you guys if Julian comes with us, and on the condition that I tell everyone the last time you called me Ray."

Now, more than ever, I want to know what made Killian fall for Raven. Killian may have to flatter and maybe even beg, but there's no price in the world I'm not willing to pay to know what happened there.

"Okay," he replies. I don't hide my little jump of glee, which makes Julian and Raven laugh like crazy.
