My hands trembled and my heart was beating out of my chest as I popped the lid of the box open.
It didn’t surprise me that it was the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen.
Kaleb had exquisite taste when it came to jewelry.
The band was platinum since Kaleb already knew that I rarely wore yellow gold. There were a ridiculous amount of diamonds in the gorgeous ring, and the quality of the diamonds were spectacular. There was a beautiful solitaire in the middle, surrounded by smaller stones.
“I didn’t want to get anything too big so you can wear it while you’re playing the piano,” Kaleb explained.
“Is this honestly what you’d call a small ring?” I teased.
“Compared to what I wanted to get you, yeah, it’s a reasonable size.”
I smiled. I guessed that maybe he had compromised. “It’s perfect,” I told him softly, still in awe of the gorgeous ring he’d chosen.
I liked unique jewelry, and this ring was a work of art.
“Are you ever going to answer my question?” he asked impatiently as he took the ring back from me and removed it from the box.
I crooked a brow. “Yes, you know I’m going to marry you. I’m a sure thing for you, too, handsome.”
He grinned as he put the ring on my finger.
It fit perfectly.
I held my hand out to admire the way the diamonds flashed on my finger.
And just like that…Kaleb Remington and I were officially engaged.
Kaleb frowned. “I guess you’re probably not going to want to change your last name. Everyone knows you as Annelise Kendrick.”
“Then I’ll officially be Annelise Kendrick Remington. Everyone simply thinks of me as Annelise unless they know me personally. I’ll be Anna Remington to anyone who knows me.”
I wanted to be part of the Remington family, which included taking Kaleb’s last name. Any children we had would be Remingtons, too.
Kaleb tossed the ring box on the side table, laid down on his back, and pulled me back on top of him again. “Now where were we?” he asked in a sexy baritone. “I think I was about to make up for that very brief encounter a little while ago.”
“Were you?” I purred as I straddled him.
Maybe it had been briefer than usual, but we’d both needed it that way.
We’d been apart for way too long, and it hadn’t taken me long to go off for a second time.
I leaned down and kissed him.
He returned that embrace with a thoroughness that took my breath away.
“I’m not in a hurry this time,” he promised me. “Ride me, beautiful. Take what you need this time.”
I’d taken what I needed last time, but I wasn’t about to argue if Kaleb was giving me control.
We both took what we wanted, finally knowing that the act was a promise of forever for both of us.
Anna
Two Weeks Later…
Kaleb and I were married two weeks after he’d proposed in a small church in Crystal Fork.
