“I think I need a shower,” I said.
Unfortunately, I’d have to get up from my comfortable spot on top of Kaleb to get there.
“Is that an invitation, beautiful?” he asked huskily.
I hadn’t meant that statement to be provocative, but…
“I think it could be,” I said playfully.
I squealed happily as he sat up and took me with him as he stood.
I wrapped my legs around his waist as he cupped my ass and walked toward the bathroom.
“Kaleb, it’s late. You have to work tomorrow,” I reminded him.
He turned on the light in the bathroom and grinned down at me. “I’ve evaluated my priorities, and you’re at the very top of that list. I’ll go to the office late if I decide to go at all.”
My heart skipped a beat as I looked at his determined expression.
My goal was, after all, to make sure he didn’t go back to his workaholic ways, and the man had never looked happier than he did right now.
“In that case,” I answered in a teasing tone. “Let’s take a very long shower.”
“That’s the plan, sweetheart,” he said in a wicked voice I was starting to adore.
He threaded his hands into my hair and pulled my mouth to his for a very thorough, satisfying embrace that left me breathless before he even turned on the water.

“Mom has decided that she’s doing a last-minute barbecue as a goodbye party for Anna,” Tanner informed me a week later as my brothers and I sat in my office in Billings.
“She’s not leaving forever,” I said grumpily.
“You’ll see her more often than we do,” Devon said stubbornly. “You’re going to the awards ceremony, so you’ll see her not long after she leaves. She might not come back to Montana for a while. I think it’s a great idea. She can see everyone she’s going to miss all at one time, including me.”
I sent my youngest brother an annoyed look, but I didn’t bother to address his ridiculous comment.
I’d eagerly accepted when Anna had asked me to be her date for the awards ceremony. It was a big moment for her because she was nominated for several awards, and I wouldn’t miss it. She’d have to slip away for her performance, but I’d be by her side most of the night.
“You do know that once you’re seen with Anna as her date, your life will never be the same,” Tanner cautioned.
I grinned. “My life hasn’t been the same since the moment we met. And yes, I realize it will shove me into a hornet’s nest of speculation and gossip, but I’m not going to hide my relationship with Anna. I’m proud of her. I support her. And I don’t give a shit if everyone knows that.”
I didn’t want to hide the fact that Anna and I were together.
There was actually a very large part of me that wanted to be seen with her so every asshole in California knew that she was already taken.
Yeah, I liked my privacy, but I liked Anna a hell of a lot more.
We’d spent the last week making up for lost time in my bed.
And all around the entire house.
I couldn’t keep my damn hands off her when she was within touching distance.
I had no idea how this was going to work when we lived in different states, but Tanner had been right when he’d said I could make this relationship happen.
I could be with Anna in two hours or so in my jet.
