Reid met Dev’s gaze and nodded.
Dev’s lips pressed into a tight line. “I could have used those supplies an hour ago.”
“Sorry,” Reid said. “We got them here as quickly as possible.”
Kiana looked from Reid to Dev. “What are you talking about?”
Dev smiled down at her. “I’ll fill you in later. Right now, shouldn’t we go see your friend Tish?”
Kiana nodded. “I’d like that.”
Dev glanced at Reid.
“I’m going with you,” Reid said.
“Good.” Dev touched a hand to the small of Kiana’s back. “Do you know where they took Tish?”
Kiana shook her head.
Dev steered her toward the reception desk, where he turned a panty-melting smile on the poor women manning the phone there. “Could you tell me where they took Tish Jenkins?”
The middle-aged woman’s cheeks flushed bright pink. “Yes, sir. Of course.”
Dev leaned over the counter and flashed her a mega-watt grin. “Your name is Janice?”
She nodded.
“Janice is a lovely name for a lovely lady.”
The woman’s fingers fumbled over the keyboard. “Thank you. I’ll just...find...Ms. Jenkins.” Her voice was breathy, as if she couldn’t quite get enough air to her lungs.
Kiana understood exactly how the poor woman felt.
The entire time Dev aimed his charisma at the receptionist, Kiana reacted to his words, smile and hunkiness with equally embarrassing heat in her cheeks and core.
Damn the man.
He could charm the panties off a virgin.
“Thank you, Janice,” Dev said.
The receptionist’s fingers stumbled some more across the keyboard and then stopped. “There,” she said with a smile. “She’s been moved to the ICU.” Janice glanced up. “And you’re in luck. It’s visiting hour.” She stared up into Dev’s eyes and batted her lashes. “Is there anything else I can help you with?”
Dev shook his head. “You’ve done more than enough, Janice. Thank you.” With one last smile at the besotted woman, Dev turned toward Kiana. “Shall we go see your friend?”
Oh, so now he remembered she’d been standing beside him the entire time as he’d flirted with the woman behind the counter.
Kiana frowned. “Are you sure you don’t want to stay and talk some more with Janice?”
He cast a smooth grin at the receptionist. “I don’t want to take up too much of her time.”
“Oh, you’re not taking up too much of my time,” Janice insisted.
Kiana hooked his arm. “Oh, yes, he is. Come on, honey, we need to see Tish and get back to those errands we need to accomplish. Isn’t that right, dear?”
Dev chuckled. “Absolutely, sweetheart. Lead the way.”
Kiana, Dev and Reid entered the elevator and rode it up to the ICU floor.
