Hawk nodded. “Good. Let’s go.”

Kiana stood beside the van as the men moved out.

Dev stopped beside her, dropped a kiss on her lips and hurried to catch up to his brothers.

“Kiana,” George called out. “We’ll monitor from inside the van.”

As Dev disappeared into the darkness, Kiana climbed into the van, slid the door closed and settled on the seat next to George, amazed at all the communications equipment the van had been outfitted with.

George gave her a brief explanation of the different devices and how they were used to track each team member.

Though they were far enough to the rear of the conflict, Kiana felt as if she was with them all the way. Her heart pounded, and her breathing grew more rapid. She was terrified for Dev and his team.

At one point, George reached out and laid a hand on her shoulder. “It does no good to get all worked up,” he said. “They’ll be all right.”

She nodded, knowing he was right but still frustrated that she could do nothing to help them.

Kiana listened as the men closed in on the Kahili Container Terminal and Warehouse.

One by one, the teams reported Demon sentinels and Honolulu police units posted at various locations surrounding a particular building.

“A group of Demons just entered a door at the southeast corner of the warehouse,” Hawk’s voice came through Kiana’s headset. “One of the men has a shock of white hair.”

Kiana’s breath caught in her chest.

“Rocko,” Dev’s voice sounded in her ear.

Kiana’s eyes welled with tears she refused to shed. The men were close enough to identify the man in charge. Close enough to be seen and shot.

“The exchange is about to go down,” Dev whispered.

“We could use that distraction about now,” Hawk said.

“Team leader ST1,” another voice sounded in Kiana’s ear. “One distraction coming up.”

A moment later, a loud explosion rumbled loud enough that Kiana could hear it inside the van.

“Honolulu’s finest moving out to check out the fireworks,” a voice said.

“Another on its way to join the fun,” said a different voice.

“Three’s a charm,” another man chimed in.

“Team BroPro moving in,” Hawk said.

“ST1 has your six.”

Kiana held her breath, listening for any sound. The men went silent as they moved in on the warehouse.

George leaned toward the computer screen with the green dots indicating each man on the team. “Looks like they’re inside the warehouse.”

“Shots fired,” a voice said. “The secret’s out. They know we’re here.”

Kiana pressed a hand to her lips, her chest so tight she could barely breathe.

“Demons moving toward the warehouse from the north. ST1 in position to cut them off.”

“Leapfrogging into position. Go, Dev,” a voice said.
