“Fuck, Asher, don’t turn me on when we need to focus to get the hell out of here,” Jonah said.
“Psycho and Savage for sure,” I commented with a roll of my eyes.
Aurora laughed. “Oh my God, this is crazy.”
I wrapped my arm around her on the other side to Asher who was holding her hand, while Jonah was grasping his shoulder. “This is what you’ve signed on for. You sure you’re still cool with that?” I teased.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she said, beaming at us.
Neither would we.
She was perfect for us.
We were perfect with her.

Asher jolted as he walked out of the ensuite bathroom and found me standing there in his room. A room that was a whole lot different to any of those in Hexwood House.
This safehouse in the mountains had a much more rustic vibe, made up of cedar wood logs, and everything much lighter, off-white linens and bedding, pine furniture, and even heavy plaid blankets on the oversized couches and armchairs in the living room downstairs, along with cozy shag rugs.
Not Asher’s style at all.
He’d clearly just chosen this place for the remote location and hadn’t cared about any of the interior decorating aspects at all.
“Well, your stealth game has definitely improved,” he said, as he meandered past me toward his bed where his clean clothes were laid out.
I swallowed hard at the sight of him with just a white towel slung low on his hips, droplets of water still dripping down his chiseled chest, along his abs, his inky black hair wild and damp too. That heat rolling through me at the sexy sight of him was dampened somewhat by the sight of those far too many scars all over him. The signs of so much suffering.
No. Markings that proved just how strong and resilient he was.
That was what they were, and how they needed to be seen by me and us all.
He was absolutely amazing.
“Careful,” he said, jarring me and making me snap my gaze to his face to find him smirking at me. “Eye-fucking me like that when I’ve just come out of my beast state is risky, sweetheart.”
I smiled and walked to him. “I don’t see it that way.”
“No?”
I shook my head. “To me, it’s exhilarating. And it’s a raw part of you I get to see.”
“What about the dangerous aspect?”
“You’re not dangerous to me.”
He stared at me for a moment, the intensity making my breath hitch.
It looked like he was going to pounce and devour me right on the spot.
But then his eye twitched and he stepped back. “So, what’s going on?”
“Going on?”
“I assume you came in here for a reason? You’re not naked,” he said, his assessing gaze sweeping over my strappy black tank and matching jeans. “So it’s not to jump me then.”
