“Was that why you insisted on exclusivity?”
“I guess. Although my parents are married, right? Exclusivity should have been part of the package.”
His parents’ marriage was a shiny, fake façade. He would build something different with his partner based on fidelity, honesty, and trust.
“Your father probably lives in perpetual fear that his second family will be discovered,” Tamar said.
“Yeah, he probably does.” Gideon had lived with this secret for less than two years, and he hated it. His father had lived with the same dread for years.
“I’m not sure what you’re going to have with your brothers. The age gap is significant, and you grew apart, far from each other. Except for a shared father, you have very little in common.”
There were no easy solutions, and being her, she didn’t sugarcoat it for him.
“Thank you for listening.” To have her in his arms, able to discuss with her anything and everything was wonderful.
“Thank you for trusting me.”
Now that the heavy burden had been lifted, his cock was coming to life, telling Gideon there was a very curvy behind plastered to him. He took a small step back. He wasn’t sure where he stood with her, whether their deal was still on.
“Yalla, let’s go. There is still some driving to do to Eilat,” he said. Tamar didn’t leave the circle of his arms. She took advantage of the space he created and turned to face him, interloping her fingers on his nape.
“You know, it’s my turn this time.” The dark brown eyes creased at him. His insides warmed.
“Can I kiss you?” he asked, and she nodded.
He caught her mouth in his and tasted mint tea and knafeh. She gasped and returned his kiss fiercely. He devoured her, relishing the way she melted against him. He would never again disappear without telling her what was going on with him. For as long as they were together, he would be honest and transparent.
“We can’t do it in our room. I’m with Omri.” He panted.
“I’m with Noga and Marina but stay tuned and I’ll figure it out,” Tamar said.
“Figure it out?”
“How to be at a company’s retreat and have sex,” Tamar answered, and Gideon laughed.
32. Tamar
The hotel was over the moon that Peaks’ employees were coming there on a Sunday night, the weakest day of the week, and in November, a month before the Christmas tourists flocked to the city.
The suite she shared with Noga and Marina was large. It had a small kitchen and a living room, and the three single beds were generously spaced. The small balcony had a partial sea view. The other part was the hotel back yard, where trucks were coming and going, unloading foods and fresh laundry.
“We’re going to the relaxation pools complex. They closed it just for us. Are you sure you don’t want to come?” Marina asked.
The thought of bathing in small pools with loads of Peaks employees staring at her boobs was too intimidating for Tamar.
“No, I’m tired from the ride,” she lied.
“We’ll see you at dinner,” Noga said, and they both left.
Tamar closed the balcony’s sliding doors against the noise. She unpacked, hanging the LBD Tally made for her. Gideon would like her in this dress.
She had kept her calm when he’d made his big announcement, sensing that a scandalized reaction would be wrong for him. But now she could freak out in private. His father had not only cheated on his mother, but he had this whole double life going on. He had hidden two brothers from Gideon. She understood now why he wouldn’t want to work closely with him in the same company.
She took a shower but still had an hour to kill before dinner. Gideon told her he would have loved getting a text from her this weekend. It was her fault for not being more pro-active if she wanted his company.
“Where are you?” she texted him. She was naked, with just a towel, ready for him. She might finally have a good time on a company retreat.
Her phone vibrated.
