I wasn’t entirely sure what I was supposed to say to Damiano, but it was too late to back out anyway because I had already dialed the number and it was ringing.
I took a seat on the bed as it kept ringing. I let out a frustrated groan, about to hang up, when finally, he answered the call.
“Althaia.”
I shivered at the sound of his voice. It really has been too long since I last heard his voice.
“How did you know it was me?”
“What’s wrong?” Damiano asked firmly, almost concerned.
“Oh… erm, nothing. Well, I need to buy a dress for tomorrow, so I have to go out.” It sounded more like a question than a statement.
“No.” He repliedimmediately.
“What do you mean no?” I frowned.
“I said what I said. You’re not leaving the manor.”
“Why am I being locked in? I need a dress for tomorrow.” I argued.
“I will have someone get you one.”
“Thank you, but no. I want to go out and find one for myself.”
“No, Althaia.” He growled as a final order, and I let out a noise of frustration.
“Why the hell not?”
“Damiano, who are you talking to?”
I stilled when I heard a woman’s voice in the background.
“No one.” He replied.
I hung up and stared at my phone for a long time, just blinking at it.
Don’t care about it. There wasn’t anything between us anyway.
I kept telling myself that, but something in my heart tightened.
What a fucking dick!
Did he really think he could just come and touch me, and then go fuck someone else? My fist tightened around my phone as my blood boiled.
I took a deep breath to calm down and went to Cara’s room. I barged in, but the only thing I saw was an empty bed. I heard the shower running and made my way there.
“Can you believe that bastard?!” I almost shouted. Cara let out a scream when I practically kicked the door open.
“Could you at least knock?! What if I was shaving?”
“Sorry. Back to my problem.” I said dismissively, and she poked her head out of the shower to look at me. “I talked to the Devil.”
“What Devil?”
“That Devil, Damiano.”
“Ah. Why? Miss him?” She winked, but I only scowled.
