“It was about time I did. I was holding on to someone who wasn’t going to come back. When I saw you for the first time, I was intrigued. I returned her things because I wanted a new start. With you.” His words sent a flutter through my body, intensifying as he leaned in, bringing his lips incredibly close to mine.
“And the way you sucked the life out of me, lets me know I have the right woman by my side.”
“Damiano!” I groaned, making sure no one heard him. It only made him laugh more when my cheeks flushed.

Since everyone had plans today, and Damiano had work to catch up on, I decided to visit my father. I passed the time playing with Kiara until it was time to go.
I lightly knocked on Damiano’s office door, mindful not to disturb him in case he was on an important call.
“Come in.”
I opened the door and poked my head in, checking to see if he was busy. He hadn’t looked up yet and was still engrossed in some papers.
“Hi.” I greeted, and his eyes immediately met mine.
“You don’t need to knock. You can come in whenever you want.” Damiano said, putting down the papers in his hand and gesturing for me to approach him.
“I didn’t want to disturb you.” I replied, walking around his desk. He took hold of my waist and placed me on his lap.
“You will never be a disturbance to me. Next time, just walk in.”
“I will try to remember that.” I placed a small kiss on his lips, making him smile. “Doing anything interesting?”
“No, just paying bills.”
“Don’t you have someone to handle your finances?” I asked as I glanced at the papers on his desk, once again filled with endless lists of numbers.
“I do, but some things require my attention.” He said.
“Jesus. How are you not broke?” I knew he had money, but I still get surprised every time because it turns out to be way more than I would have imagined.
“I would be one hell of a lousy Don if that was going to make me broke.” Damiano said, amused by my reaction as I let out a whistle.
“Not too shabby of a career path. I should form my own gang and make a shit ton of money.”
“Really?” His voice let me know he was trying not to laugh at me.
“Yes, I would be really good at it.” I said cockily, holding my head high, and he just scoffed.
“Baby, you won’t even last ten minutes before getting your ass shot.”
I crossed my arms and looked at him in complete offense.
“I would definitely last longer than ten minutes! I will just rule over a few streets and keep it low-key. Who would shoot me for that?” I questioned.
“Me. And you wouldn’t even see it coming.” Damiano leaned back in his seat and smirked at me.
I did a dramatic gasp and put my hand to my chest as I looked at him with an exaggerated, shocked face.
“Why would you shoot me? I thought we were homies!”
“Don’t take it personally, my love. It’s only business. You would walk around in my territories, trying to take my money.” He leaned in closer to my face, his voice low. “No one takes what’s mine. You will have to kill me for it.”
“Oh, really?” I placed my hands on his chest, offering him an innocent smile. Damiano’s gaze penetrated deep into my eyes, making my breath quicken at the intensity of his golden-brown eyes.
