“We need to check the banks she has visited. She probably has a safe with documents somewhere we don’t know about.” Lorenzo commented and I nodded in agreement.
“I will see what I can do.” Raffaele worked on his laptop as the door creaked open, and Arianna stepped inside.
“We’re ready to leave.”
“You will have to leave with Cara. We have something to take care of.” I told her, and she let out an annoyed sigh.
“Why are you the only ones allowed to have fun? I want to kick someone’s ass, too.” She scowled and crossed her arms.
“I need you to go back. We’re having issues with the shipments, and I need you to deal with it. Dom could use your help.” I explained, knowing she wouldn’t leave if I didn’t assign something to her. Her slow grin and excited eyes were proof that it worked.
“Wait, does that mean you’re cool with me and Dom now?” She asked. I smirked and then faced Lorenzo, who had a displeased look on his face.
“What do you say, Lorenzo? Are we cool with it?”
“I need to have one more talk with the fucker before I decide.” He sneered, not happy about the fact one of our men had taken a liking to our baby sister.
“Lorenzo, no! Your ‘talk’ involves anything except talking. It’s not fair that you can be with someone, and I can’t.” Arianna challenged.
He walked towards her, staring intently, and the silence between them was filled with glares.
“If he hurts you or makes you cry, I will cut his throat open.” He promised, and Arianna let out a scoff.
“You don’t think I will get to him first if he does?” The raising of her brow resulted in a wicked smile from him.
“Good.” Lorenzo said, showing his acceptance by kissing the top of her head. I smiled when I saw how happy she looked about it.
“Great! We will leave then.” She smiled brightly and turned to leave, but stopped when Raffaele made a sound that caught our attention.
“What’s going on?” I went over to him and looked at the screen where pages were scrolling quickly with a mix of letters and numbers.
“She got a call. It got disconnected after five seconds, but that’s enough for me to make it work.” Raffaele said, focusing on typing in code after code to finally trace the call while muttering words and numbers under his breath.
“I think I got it.” He stopped typing, and a map showed up, a red dot blinking at the location. “Mastermind Raffaele did it again!” Getting to his feet, he punched the air and kept praising himself.
“Get ready to move.” I told them.
We headed to the location on the other side of town once Arianna and Cara were up in the air. Stepping out of the car, I carefully scanned the surroundings on my end.
The sun had already set, making it almost entirely dark. The location was in the middle of nowhere, with a beat-down warehouse and trees surrounding the place.
Guns were drawn out as we silently moved forward, making sure we wouldn’t be spotted by whoever was in there. Once we neared the warehouse, we split up. Lorenzo and Raffaele went around the left side of the warehouse, while I took the right side. Everything was quiet as we continued to move around.
Too quiet.
I met with Lorenzo and Raffaele at the back of the warehouse where a rusty door stood. With a quick nod towards Lorenzo, he pulled down the handle. The door swung open easily, and I entered the room, gun raised in front of me.
I moved forward into the dark warehouse. The only thing I could see were rows of empty shelves, barely illuminated by the faint moonlight seeping in through small windows.
I neared an open space when I stopped, the others following suit. I lowered my gun, my blood boiling at the sight of what was on the wall.
Hanging on the wall across from us were large pictures. Not just any pictures.
Pictures of all of us.
They were from during our stay here; of me and Althaia together, of Luca and Giovanni, Lorenzo and Cara, Arianna and Raffaele. There were even pictures of Antonio and Jacinta. Someone has been keeping track of us, managing to do so without being detected.
I looked at one particular picture that had me see fucking red.
