I nod, excited that they all are willing to go so far to make it work.

“Yes, I’d love to.”

Ethan, Logan, and I decided to all get ready for our first group date with Jade together. That way we can just drive to pick her up as one. To say things are a little weird between the three of us would be an understatement.

We’ve all been civil, but the dynamic between us has been a little different than usual. It’s almost like we’re all trying not to step on each other’s toes. I think the only thing that’s saving us from being uncivil is the fact that we all agreed to this.

None of us want to fuck this up. We all want the same thing – Jade. And we’ll do anything to keep her.

I turn to Logan, holding up two ties. “Which one?”

He rolls his eyes. “It’s just a tie, man. It’s not that serious.”

My nostrils flare as I stare at him. This is just normal Logan, I know that, but I’m not in the mood for it right now. Instead of starting an argument, I turn to Ethan.

“Dark blue,” he says without needing to be asked. I shoot Logan a glare before turning to the mirror in front of me to put the tie on.

“Are you ladies done primping now? We’re going to be late picking her up,” Logan says.

“We still have ten minutes.”

“It’s LA, dude. We need to get a head start.”

“Whose car are we taking?” I ask, ignoring Logan.

“Mine,” Ethan says immediately. Neither of us argue with that.

Let him drive. At least that way I can snag the backseat with Jade.

Ten minutes later, we’re all in the car, on our way to Jade’s apartment. As Logan predicted, traffic makes us late, although not by much.

Jade walks outside in a dark green, shimmery evening gown with a long slit on one side that stops just before her hip. Her light brown curls are, as always, absolutely perfect. She spots us, her face lighting up. I exit the car to help her inside.

“You look amazing,” I tell her.

She meets my eyes, smiling up at me. “Thank you, Ryan.”

I open her door for her and close it behind her after she carefully takes her seat. As I walk back around the car, all I can think is that we should have rented a fucking limo. Jade deserves a limo.

Next time.

“Okay, so where are you guys taking me? All you said was to dress fancy.”

“We’re going to the best Italian restaurant in LA, and that’s all we’re going to tell you.”

“Mmm, Italian.”

Jade rests her head on my shoulder the whole way there. Twenty minutes later, we arrive at the restaurant. The four of us walk inside, where we take her to the elevator that will lead to the roof.

As soon as the elevator opens to the roof, Jade’s jaw drops.

“This is where we’re eating? Where is everyone?” She looks at me, curiosity evident on her face.

I smirk. “It’s just us up here tonight. We’ve rented out the roof.”
