He doesn’t look angry, and I take a breath, trying to relax. Maybe I’m not in trouble after all.

“Not right now, but I was planning to go grocery shopping after cleaning up a bit.”

“Can you give us a couple of minutes? We can go to the store with you later if you want.”

“Oh, um, sure. Please come in,” I say.

Ethan walks in, and Logan and Ryan follow behind him.

I close the front door. “What’s up?”

I try to sound nonchalant about having the three of them in my living room, but inside, I can’t help the part of me that wants to panic. You didn’t do anything wrong, I remind myself. There’s no exclusivity with any of them. They’re free to date whoever they want and so are you.

Even so, I’m scared they’re here to break it off with me and shame me for seeing the three of them at the same time.

“We just came here to tell you something. It’s important,” Ethan explains further.

“Do any of you want something to drink? Water? Juice?”

“No, no, we’re fine. Thank you.”

I nod and sit on the kitchen stool. I feel like some distance is needed.

Logan stands by the hallway, Ethan sits on the couch, and Ryan takes the small armchair. They all look at me intently, and it’s making me feel small. It’s not scrutinizing, but it’s not playful, either.

“What’s going on?” I ask finally.

The men share a look, but none of them say anything, letting this uncomfortable silence gnaw at my insides. I press my hands on my knees and bite my lower lip, preparing myself for whatever they’re going to say.

Then, Ethan lets out a long, drawn-out sigh.

“We all want to date you,” he outright says.

I blink several times. My expression’s rigid, but I can only muster one word. “Okay.”

“Okay, as in, you’re okay with it?” Ryan asks.

I stand from the stool and pace around. I let out an awkward laugh. I have no idea how to act in this scenario. I imagined a whole break-up conversation, not the complete opposite of it.

They can’t be serious. Can they?

I won’t lie and say I don’t like the idea of it. In fact, it makes me happy to think that I won’t have to lose any of them. But it can’t be this easy.

“Um, I don’t know what to say, really. How did you even come up with that idea in the first place?”

“Ethan’s the one that came up with it,” Logan explains. He stands with his arms crossed over his chest, looking like he’s not really on board with the idea. I want to ask his opinion of it but something tells me I should wait.

“Yes. I suggested to Ryan and Logan that we date you as a group. There were a few mishaps and misunderstandings but we’re all in agreement,” Ethan adds.

Ryan and Ethan glance over at Logan for a split second. It’s not quick enough for the latter not to notice it, and he frowns. His reaction is all I need to know that the misunderstanding came from him.

Logan catches me looking and sighs. “Please, don’t ask.”

I raise my hands up. “I wasn’t going to. But I’m really curious about it now.”

“You wouldn’t even be able to torture it out of me, sweetheart.”

I purse my lips. “I don’t know. I’ve been told I’m a pretty good negotiator.”
