When the Gremco team returned to the arbitration room, their faces flushed tomato-red, with defeat clearly showing. As the arbiters called everyone to order and a victorious smile ghosted my lips.
“Gremco, do you have a counter for the claims made by Greene Industries?”
“We propose a fifteen-million-dollar settlement,” Gremco’s lawyer answered, his bald head covered with a shiny layer of sweat.
Gremco agreed to allow our engineers to visit their chemical manufacturing plants and verify they followed product safety standards. The judges also imposed a ninety-day contract signing limit, ensuring both companies signed the agreement promptly lest they risk additional costs in damages. Once the Gremco team signed, my father or I would do the same, and the documents would be notarized by the courts.
“Greene Industries, do you accept?”
“We do,” Schaffer answered.
Looks like I scored my first win as CEO of Greene Industries.
Back at the office, we gathered the core legal and executive team together in my office for a champagne celebration. I got my father on a video call, and he enthusiastically congratulated me and Tristen a hundred times.
“You did well, son,” he said. “You’ve shown your mettle as the leader of this company. I couldn’t be more proud of you and your girlfriend.”
If my ego got any bigger, my head would explode, but I respectfully thanked my father.
“Now, go be a good boyfriend to her,” he continued. “And make sure she knows she’s valued beyond measure tonight.”
I looked over at my clever, gorgeous woman, chatting with the other lawyers. I couldn’t agree more.
Once the festivities began to die down, Schaffer and the other leading executives excused themselves, leaving no one between me and Tristen. She sipped her drink by the glass doors, quietly reveling in her success. And her smile, gods. That smile playing on her lips set my thrumming nerves on fire. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her flush against me.
“That was some incredible work before the judge today. I could see us working well together in the future,” I grunted, placing a tender kiss on the arch of her neck. “Have you considered a partnership, Lawyer Morgana?”
“Lorcan!” Tris shrieked. “Half your employees can see us!”
“Let them. You are mine, and I want to thank you properly for saving my ass.”
With a giggle, she laced her hands around my neck. “Congratulations, baby. You deserve the win.”
Now was my chance to make things right from yesterday. “We should celebrate properly.” I nuzzled her face. “I know of a decadent, luxurious king-size bed. Positively sinful. Might be a good place to start.”
“Hmm, the jury is still deliberating on whether you are out of the doghouse.”
“Surely a lawyer like you knows the defendant needs a chance to plead his case? And trust me, I can be very persuasive.”
I pulled her lower lip into my mouth, capturing her tongue in a fiery kiss that had her moaning inside my mouth.
"Hot kisses won't let you out scot-free. Your sentence is dinner and a foot rub and communicating when you feel overwhelmed with anything. I don't want a repeat of what happened in the bedroom last night, Lorcan.”
I growled triumphantly. “The defendant agrees to the terms, and I'll do a better job communicating my frustrations."
"In that case, you are acquitted."
Tristen had the biggest smile as she left my office. Today had been a win for the CEO of Greene Industries, but tonight would be a win for Lorcan, boyfriend of Tristen Morgana. I’d go all out for the woman who had enriched my life in ways I couldn't begin to imagine.

WAFFLES STRAORDINARIO
Icouldn't run away from the truth. Yesterday's rough roleplay session between Lorcan and me proved that all too well. I had hoped to seduce him as a naughty student, but he flipped the script on me, and made me endure agonizing orgasm denial. I now realize I allowed Lorcan to have that level of control over me because my desire to see him happy had trumped my own needs.
I had never done that for another man before. Hell, I had never done that for another adult, period.
And that was a sobering revelation. I cared for him more than I would like to admit.
