TEN YEARS LATER
“Oh my God, Sebastian. That is not even how that all went down.” I smile at my gorgeous husband as he pulls our almost ten year old daughter, Alexia, into a hug. She loves to hear the PG Disney-esque version of how we got together. My daughter is a romantic, like her momma.
She looks like my mini me, but she loves her daddy to pieces and has him wrapped around her finger, and he loves it so much.
“Lexi, don’t listen to your momma. She is very confused about what happened.” Bas, leans toward me, and I kiss his lips.
“You are a butthead,” I whisper against his lips, making him laugh, and to this day I love that sound.
“Eww…gross.” Our seven year old son, Christian says from the pool where his uncle Nick has him on his shoulders. Of course, he quickly forgets about us and has his uncle throw him.
Now, to break it down for you, Sebastian cancelled or postponed all his work until after Alexia was born. During that time, we got to know each other and fell in love. Neither of us were looking for that and all we wanted was to have a good relationship for our daughter.
The two of us learned that we had a lot more in common than we ever thought. While we waited for our daughter to arrive, we stayed with Pete and Mom. Then we stayed until Alexia was two months old, and then Sebastian began traveling for work again, but this time he had the baby and me with him.
It was hard at first, but everyone we met along our travels made us feel welcome. Before Alexia turned two, we’d been to Croatia, Florence, Paris, and New York.
We got married in New York and then my bestie, Holly and her husband, Max, met us in San Diego and helped watch Alexia while we honeymooned in Hawaii. After I got pregnant with Christian, we decided to lay down roots and bought a beach house in Newport Beach.
In the past ten years my writing career has flourished and almost two years ago I was approached about selling the TV rights to my fae series. I’m not sure if anything will come of it, but everyone said the deal was solid and I should take it. The first screenwriter butchered the first draft, and they finally found a good one, and she’s working on it right now.
It has been exciting to think that my stories could become a TV series.
I don’t know what I was worried about when it came to Sebastian, because my husband has been the best father to our babies. From the time they were born, he’s been involved in every way possible. Except, of course feeding them most of the time since I nursed them both.
Sebastian pulls Alexia down onto his lap and she smiles at me, before laying her head on her dad’s shoulder.
“Are you tired, sweetheart? You and Grandpa stayed up late watching Harry Potter. Plus, you got up early to go to the farmer’s market with Gigi.” My daughter loves spending time with her grandparents. We’ll eventually have to explain that Sebastian and Pete are brothers, but we want to wait until she’s older and can understand it better.
She nods and smiles at me. “A little.” Alexia gets off her dad’s lap and goes to climb in the hammock. It won’t take long for her to fall asleep.
My man then pulls me onto his lap, kissing me behind my ear. In the beginning our future was unexpected, but it didn’t take long before I knew he was my forever, and I was his.
Sebastian
Luna sleeps soundly, against me. Her naked body wrapped around me like a spider monkey. The sound of waves crashing can be heard from our open bedroom window. Never in my life did I ever expect to be this happy.
Taking her home that night from the club was the best decision I ever made, and it gave me the most unexpected gifts. Gifts I never really thought I wanted, but now I can’t imagine my life without them. I know it’s because I found the right person to share my life with.
My wife and my kids fill my life with so much joy, I can’t remember what life was like before them.
I still do some traveling, but most of the time I will take my family with me, or at least Luna. I’ve been blessed to be able to treat my kids to some of the most beautiful places on earth.
I kiss her forehead and inhale the scent of her shampoo. Coconut and Lime has become my most favorite because it reminds me of her. It is not lost on me just how lucky I am, and for the rest of my life I’ll make sure that I remain worthy of their love.
