Clare laughed. “He only grilled me because he cares about you. How can I be insulted by that?”
Jane wasn’t so sure that was the case. “He’s a confusing contradiction of a man.”
Clare linked an arm through Jane’s. “Aren’t they all? That’s what makes it so thrilling!”
Her enthusiasm was contagious, and Jane soon found herself relaxing in her company. “But was it all true, what you told me about being rescued on the beach and losing your memory? The businessman was actually Logan?”
“Hard to believe, I know, but yes.”
Clare clutched her hands to her heart, swooning. “My God, it’s so romantic, like something out of a movie!”
If only, Jane thought to herself, casting a last glance at Logan’s car as it roared off down the street.
