Trevor clapped his hands together, startling the room.
“Excellent. Thank you so much, Jane. Logan and the rest of us, the whole team, we really appreciate you stepping up like this. I’ll get the contracts drawn up, you’ll have them by the evening. Now, why don’t we get out of their way. Adele, have your team come up with a couple of profiles that we can run through with Jane in the morning.”
Adele nodded, typing into her phone. “Already on it.”
“Jane,” Trevor continued. “If you have any questions or if you are not happy with anything, you just call me. Logan will give you my details.”
He looked to the others. “OK. Let’s go. We’ve all got work to do.”
They exited en masse, leaving Logan and Jane, the latter looking like she wasn’t quite in her body.
“I know they can be a bit much, but they mean well.”
She looked so frozen that Logan had to do something about it. He took hold of her hands in his. They were ice cold, but the heat that came out of her eyes at his touch could have scorched them both.
His heart began to race. What was it about this woman? He took a moment to compose himself before he spoke again.
“If you need more time to think things through, or if you change your mind and want to call the whole thing off, it’s fine. My team are always pushy, but they work for me, so if you want out, you just tell me and I will let them know.”
Sincerity shone from his eyes. Jane lost herself in his gaze. His hands felt so warm that she could feel their heat all the way down to her feet, it seemed.
This moment meant a lot to her.
That he would take this time to ensure she didn’t regret her decision… it let her know that she had come to the right choice.
“Thank you.” She said simply.
He squeezed her hands as they stared at each other. The air was alive with electricity.
“Oh. Sorry,” Kitty apologized, lowering her eyes to the ground as a blush stained her cheeks. “I came to get their glasses.”
She went to leave. Logan let go of Jane’s hands and stood up.
“Go ahead. I should get back to work.”
Nodding at Jane, he exited the room.
